RESOLUTION NO. 2007-~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXPEND FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000) IN ORDER TO PAY THE
SUNNY ISLES BEACH RESORT ASSOCIATION TO HIRE A PUBLIC
RELATIONS FIRM AND TO STAFF A GIFT SHOP; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida (the "City") is a nationally and
internationally recognized travel and tourist destination, due to its coastal location, tropical
climate and world class amenities and attractions; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach Resort Association ("SIBRA") provides
invaluable marketing services to the City, such as promoting the City in travel and tourism
publications, advertising in economic development publications, and maintaining membership in
key associations; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida (the "City") has carefully considered
the economic benefits of hiring a public relations firm to promote the City as Florida's Riviera;
and
WHEREAS, being recognized as Florida's Riviera will assist the City in maximizing
economic revenue for the City's travel and tourism businesses; and
WHEREAS, the City is desirous of paying SIBRA an amount not to exceed thirty
thousand dollars ($30,000) for SIBRA to hire a public relations firm to promote the City as
Florida's Riviera; and
WHEREAS, in connection with these efforts to promote the City's travel and tourism
amenities, the City will be providing a new gift shop to be located inside the City's Government
Center; and
WHEREAS, a gift shop located inside the City's Government Center will provide
essential visitor information services, such as preparing and distributing visitor guides,
advertising the City's travel, tourism and local businesses, and providing specific items for sale
and free distribution; and
WHEREAS, the City is desirous of reimbursing SIBRA to staff the new gift shop, to be
located inside the City's Government Center, in amount not to exceed twenty thousand dollars
($20,000) for the fiscal year 2007/2008.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization for City Manager to Expend Funds in an amount not to exceed
Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000). The City Manager is hereby authorized to Expend Funds in
an amount not to exceed Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) to pay the Sunny Isles Beach Resort
Association to hire a Public Relations Firm to promote the City as Florida's Riviera and to staff a
gift shop to be located inside the City's Government Center.
Section 2. Authority of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution is effective upon adoption.

Dear Ibis:
The City Commission wishes to promote the City of Sunny Isles Beach as a world-class
destination and demonstrate its commitment to this endeavor by providing the Sunny
Isles Beach Resort Association with funding to share in the cost of hiring a Public
Relations firm and staffIng a visitor center.
The City has committed $SO,OOO with the understanding that SIBRA is to use these
funds as follows:
. $30,000 (i.e. $2,SOO/mo.) for SIBRA to hire a Public Relations fIrm.
. $20,000 (i.e. $1,667/mo.) for staffing a visitor center in the Sunny Isles Beach
Government Center.
It is understood that SIBRA will hire a Public Relations firm and, in partnership with
the City, provide the fIrm with information and direction. SIBRA will keep the City
Commission informed of the PR fIrm's activities in promoting the City.
When the offIces on the first floor of the SIB Government Center are vacated, SIBRA
and the City will transition the space into a visitor center. As such time, the City will
provide funding for SIBRA to staff the center for it to be open to the public 30 hours
per week.

Expenditure of Funds to Sunny Isles Beach Res0l1 Association
The City Commission wishes to promote the City of Sunny Isles Beach as a world-class destination,
and demonstrate its commitment to this endeavor by providing the Sunny Isles Beach Resort
Association with funding to share in the cost of hiring a Public Relations firm and staffing a visitor
center as outlined in the attached Letter of Understanding. The letter indicates that these funds are
to be used as follows: $30,000 for SIBRA to apply to the cost of hiring a Public Relations fIrm and
$20,000 for staffing a visitor center in the Sunny Isles Beach Government Center.
Funding is provided for in the Adopted Budget 07 i08 through the Administrative Services Department,
Account No. 519-10-5314.
