A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) NEW
COMMUNITY SHUTTLE BUS FROM ATLANTIC BUS
SALES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SEVENTY-
FIVE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED ELEVEN DOLLARS
FOURTEEN CENTS ($75,411.14), TO REPLACE THE
SHUTTLE BUS THAT CAUGHT ON FIRE, WHICH WAS
CONSIDERED TOTALED; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") desires to replace the shuttle bus
that caught on fire on September 4,2007, which was considered totaled; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to purchase one (1) shuttle bus from Atlantic Bus Sales, the
same vendor in which the initial shuttle bus was purchased; and
WHEREAS, Atlantic Bus Sales has submitted a quote of Seventy-Five Thousand Four
Hundred Eleven Dollars ($75,411.14) which is a piggyback off of the Broward County Contract
No. CX04198B3, Mid Size Buses; and
WHEREAS, funding for the purchase of the bus is $61,650.00 from the insurance claim
payment, and $13,761.14 from Police Forfeiture Fund for community policing, for a total of
$75,411.14.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization of Purchase. The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase
of one (1) shuttle bus from Atlantic Bus Sales, in an amount not to exceed Seventy-Five
Thousand Four Hundred Eleven Dollars Fourteen Cents ($75,411.14), piggy-backing Broward
County Mass Transit Contract Bid No. CX04198B3.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 13th day of December 2007.

PURGIASE OF REPLACEMENT SHUTILE BUS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is reconunended that the Gty Commission adopt the attached Resolution to purchase a
replacement shuttle bus from Atlantic Bus Sales in an amount not to exceed $75,411.14 (Seventy
Five Thousand, Four Hundred Eleven Dollars and Fourteen Cents) as per attached.
REASONS:
Shuttle Bus number 06- 22 caught on fire on September 4, 2007. The incident was fully investigated by
both our insurance company and the manufacturer. The cause of the fire is undetermined. The
vehicle was considered a total loss and an insurance claim payment was made to the Gty in the

$13,761.14 will be funded by the Police Departments federal forfeiture fund for conununitypolicing.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This bus is necessary to provide continuous shuttle service to the residents of Sunny Isles Beach.
It is also used for the Cultural Events program and to provide transportation to the youth sports
leagues.
This purchase is from the same vendor in which the initial shuttle bus was purchased. The quote
is a piggyback off of the Broward County Contract No. CX04198B3, Mid Size Buses. Funding
is available as stated above.

Shuttle Bus Purchase Approval
At its regular meeting of December 13, 2007, the City Commission adopted Resolution No.
2007-1184, which approved the purchase of a shuttle bus from Atlantic Bus Sales. Attached is a
