A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO APPL Y FOR, RECEIVE AND ACCEPT BY
EXECUTION OF, A BOATING IMPROVEMENT GRANT WITH
THE FLORIDA FISH AND WILDLIFE CONSERVATION
COMMISSION, TO REPAIR THE DOCK AT THE BELLA VISTA
BAY PARK LOCATED AT 500 SUNNY ISLES BOULEVARD, FOR
UP TO THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED NINETY-FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($195,000.00) WITH MATCHING FUNDS
IN THE AMOUNT OF FOUR HUNDRED FORTY THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($440,000.00) FROM THE CITY, WITH A TOTAL
PROJECT COST OF SIX HUNDRED THIRTY-FIVE THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($635,000.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTION NECESSARY WITH RESPECT
TO THE OBTAINING AND DISTRIBUTION OF GRANT MONIES,
AS APPROPRIATE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission through a Boating
Improvement Grant offers matching grants up to a total project cost of One Hundred Ninety-Five
Thousand Dollars ($195,000,00); and
WHEREAS, the City submitted an application for and deemed eligible to receive a
Boating Improvement Grant in the amount of One Hundred Ninety-Five Thousand Dollars
($195,000,00) to repair the dock at the Bella Vista Park located at 500 Sunny Isles Boulevard,
provided that the City commit to a matching contribution; and
WHEREAS, the State funding available is One Hundred Ninety-Five Thousand Dollars
($195,000,00); and
WHEREAS, the required City match of Four Hundred Forty Thousand Dollars
($440,000,00) will be met by the City, with a total Project cost of Six Hundred Thirty-Five
Thousand Dollars ($635,000.00),
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization of City Manager to Apply For, Accept and Expend Grant Funds.
The City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach hereby authorizes the City Manager to
apply for, receive, and accept by the execution of, a Boating Improvement Grant Agreement with
the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and to expend funds in the amount of
up to One Hundred Ninety-Five Thousand Dollars ($195,000,00) with matching funds in the
amount of Four Hundred Forty Thousand Dollars ($440,000.00) from the City, with a total
Project cost of Six Hundred Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($635,000,00) should we be
successful in obtaining a grant to repair the dock at Bella Vista Park,

Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
take any and all action necessary with respect to the obtaining and distribution of grant monies,
as appropriate.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption,

RE: APPROV AL TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE AND EXPEND FUNDS FROM
STATE OF FLORIDA BOATING IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM GRANT
FOR REPLACEMENT OF SEAWALL AND DOCK REPAIRS AT BELLA
VIST A BAY PARK LOCATED AT 500 SUNNY ISLES BOULEVARD IN THE
AMOUNT OF $200,000
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to take the necessary steps to
obtain State of Florida Boating Improvement Program grant funds as partial reimbursement for
the cost of repairing the seawall and dock at Bella Vista Bay Park, The grant amount is
$200,000 with match of $415,000,
BACKGROUND:
The Florida Boating Improvement program provides funding through competItIve grants for
boating access projects and other boating related activities on coastal and lor inland waters of
Florida. Eligible program participants include county governments, municipalities and other
government entities of the State of Florida.
Maximum grant amount: $200,000
Matching ratio: Not required but highly encouraged
Eligible projects:
. Boat ramps, lifts & hoists, public launching facilities
. Piers, docks, & other mooring facilities
. Recreational channel marking & other universal waterway markers

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Funds are available in 20-600-5662 to cover the design costs this fiscal year. Construction cannot
commence until after the notice to proceed is issued by the State of Florida in October so these
costs will need to be budgeted in FY 2008/09.

Approval of Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission Grant ($195,000)
At its regular meeting of February 21, 2008, the City Commission adopted Resolution No.
2008-1228, which approved the above-referenced grant for the repair of the dock at Bella Vista
Bay Park. Attached is a copy of the approving legislation to assist you in processing this item.
