Home My WebLink AboutReso 2008-1217 RESOLUTION NO. 2008- t Z-l7 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A CONTRIBUTION TO THE FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY'S BISCA YNE BAY CAMPUS, IN AN AMOUNT OF TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,500.00), TOWARD THE SPONSORSHIP OF THE 30 TO ANNIVERSARY GALA LUNCHEON; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is committed in participating and informing its residents of cultural events and activities taking place in and around the community; and WHEREAS, on July 17,2003, the City entered into a partnership with the Biscayne Bay Society of Florida International University ("FlU") to co-partner in the FlU Biscayne Bay Project to keep its citizens apprised of any programs that may interest them, including the "Second Tuesday at Biscayne Bay Campus"; and WHEREAS, lots of Sunny Isles Beach residents have participated In the vanous programs and activities offered by the FlU Biscayne Bay Project; and WHEREAS, the program was so well-received, the City renewed it partnership with FlU Biscayne Bay Project throughout the years; and WHEREAS, Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Camfus is celebrating its 30th Anniversary of Academic Excellence and has organized the 30t Anniversary Gala Luncheon which is scheduled on March 6, 2008; and WHEREAS, Florida International University has offered the City the opportunity to be one of the sponsors of the event; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to be an Associate Sponsor Level I for the 30th Anniversary Gala Luncheon, and to make a contribution in an amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00), to Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Contribution. The City Commission hereby approves a contribution to Florida International University's Biscayne Bay Campus, in an amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00), to sponsor the 30th Anniversary Gala Luncheon. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date.
