A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF A DONATION IN AN AMOUNT OF TWO THOUSAND FIVE
HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,500.00) FROM THE SUNFLOWER SOCIETY
TO SPONSOR CHILDREN TO ATTEND THE CITY SUMMER DAY
CAMP PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL
THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach provides a fee for service summer day camp
program; and
WHEREAS, the Sunflower Society is a non-profit organization that wishes to provide
financial assistance to families that would otherwise not be able to attend the city's day camp
program due to financial constraints; and
WHEREAS, these funds, in the amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars
($2,500.00) are being donated in honor of Connie Morrow, the founder of the Sunflower Society
and the originator of this scholarship program; and
WHEREAS, there are families in need of this financial assistance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Acceptance. The City Commission hereby approves the acceptance
of the donation from the Sunflower Society in an amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred
Dollars ($2,500.00) to pay for the summer camp fees of families in need of financial assistance.
Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of June 2008.

APPROVAL OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION FROM
SUNFLOWER SOCIETY FOR SUMMER CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution to approve the
acceptance of a donation in the amount of Two Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00)
from Sunflower Society to sponsor summer day camp participants.
REASONS:
Our summer camp is a fee for service program. Sunflower Society is a non-profit organization
that wishes to provide financial assistance to families that would otherwise not be able to attend
the city's day camp program due to financial limitations. There is an application process and this
donation, along with others, will provide financial assistance to 39 children for summer day
camp 2008.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
These funds are being donated in honor of Connie Morrow, the founder of Sunflower Society
and the originator of this scholarship program.
