A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS
DESIGNEE TO SIGN OR RENEW ALL REQUIRED CONTRACTS,
AGREEMENTS, AND PURCHASE ORDERS THAT AFFECT THE HEALTH,
SAFETY, OR WELFARE OF THE CITY, DURING THE SUMMER RECESS
PERIOD FROM THE LAST CITY COMMISSION MEETING IN JULY 2008
THROUGH THE FIRST REGULAR COMMISSION MEETING IN
SEPTEMBER 2008, SUBJECT TO AFTER-THE-FACT RATIFICATION AT
THE SEPTEMBER 18, 2008 CITY COMMISSION MEETING; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach City Commission is not scheduled to meet between
July 17, 2008 and the next regular meeting for September 18, 2008; and
WHEREAS, there may be new or existing contracts that require approval during the time
period between the last City Commission meeting in July 2008 and the first regular meeting in
September 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to assign certain powers to the City Manager
or his Designee to enable them to sign all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders
that affect the health, safety, or welfare of the City, during the time period between the last City
Commission meeting in July 2008 and the first regular meeting in September 2008; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager will report back to the City Commission at the first
regular City Commission meeting on September 18, 2008, seeking after-the-fact ratification of
any actions relating to the aforestated authorizations.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. Authority of City Manager or Designee. The City Manager or his Designee is
hereby authorized to sign or renew all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders that
affect the health, safety, or welfare of the City during the summer recess period, from the last
City Commission meeting in July 2008 through the first regular City Commission meeting in
September 2008, subject to after-the-fact ratification at the September 18,2008 City Commission
meeting.
Section 2.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1 ih day of July 2008.

Resolution Authorizing the City Manager or his Designee to Approve Required
Contracts, Agreements, and Purchase Orders During the Summer Recess
RECOMMENDATION:
It is requested that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution that provides authority to
the City Manager to sign or renew contracts, agreements, and purchase orders during the summer
recess.
REASONS:
The City Commission is not scheduled to meet between July 17, 2008 and the next regular
meeting of September 18, 2008, and there may be new or existing contracts that require approval
during that time period. This Resolution authorizes the City Manager or his Designee to sign or
renew all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders that affect the health, safety, or
welfare of the City during the summer recess period.
The City Manager will report back to the City Commission at the first regular City Commission
meeting of September 18,2008, seeking after-the-fact ratification.
