MEMORANDUM
TO: The Honorable City Commission
FROM: Norman S. Edelcup, Mayor NJIv
DATE: December 18,2008
RE: Termination of Mayor's Advisory Council Committees
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution terminating the Mayor's
Advisory Council committees.
REASONS:
Currently, the Mayor's Advisory Council (MAC) consists of the Community Awareness
Committee, the Long Range Planning and Intergovernmental Relations Committee, and the
Tourism and Development Committee. Every year I conduct an annual review of the
committees. This year I find that although the committees serve the City well, they do not have
a sufficient number of topics to address to warrant individual committees. As such, I am
recommending that we terminate the individual committees of the Mayor's Advisory Council.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Section 74-8 of the Code provides that there shall be as many standing committees of the City
Commission as the Mayor or City Commission deems necessary and that the City Commission
may establish or terminate such Committees from time to time.
