A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE PURCHASE
OF PROTECTIVE FLOORING FROM GREA TMA TS.COM FOR
THE PELICAN COMMUNITY PARK GYMNASIUM, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY-ONE THOUSAND EIGHT
HUNDRED SIXTEEN DOLLARS AND FOUR CENTS ($21,816.04),
ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach was desirous of purchasing protective
flooring for the Gymnasium at Pelican Community Park to avoid any damage to the special
athletic flooring that is installed in the Gymnasium; and
WHEREAS, Greatmats.Com had the lowest responsIve responsible quote, and was
willing and able to provide the desired services; and
WHEREAS, Greatmats.Com submitted a proposal to the City to provide protective
flooring for the Pelican Community Park Gymnasium, in an amount not to exceed Twenty-One
Thousand Eight Hundred Sixteen Dollars and Four Cents ($21,816.04), attached hereto as Exhibit
"A".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. Ratify the Purchase. The City Commission hereby ratifies the purchase of
protective flooring from Greatmats.Com for the Pelican Community Park Gymnasium, in an
amount not to exceed Twenty-One Thousand Eight Hundred Sixteen Dollars and Four Cents
($21,816.04), attached hereto as Exhibit "A", be and the same, is hereby approved.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution.
Section 4.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of September 2008.

RATIFICATION OF THE PURCHASE OF PROTECTIVE FLOORING
FOR THE GYMNASIUM AT PELICAN COMMUNITY PARK FROM
GREA TMA TS.COM
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission ratify the purchase of protective flooring for the
gymnasium at Pelican Community Park in an amount not to exceed Twenty One Thousand,
Eight Hundred, Sixteen Dollars and Four Cents ($21,816.04).
REASONS:
The City wishes to utilize the gymnasium, the largest indoor space at Pelican Community Park,
for activities other than sports, such as the summer camp talent show, dances, movies, etc. In
order to use this space to its fullest potential while protecting the hardwood basketball court, it is
necessary to cover the floor during these other uses. Staff researched all available products and
recommends a heavy duty, UV protected carpet fiber that offers tremendous strength, rigidity
and slip resistance which is designed for longevity and regular use. The product is warranted for
3-years but with proper care, it is anticipated to last over 10 years. This product virtually covers
the entire hardwood floor, transforming it into a carpeted multi-use room. Carts are also
recommended for storage of the carpet tiles for easy installation.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Funds are available in the Pelican Community Park FF&E fund, account 20.600.5611. Three
quotes were obtained for the same product as required by Chapter 62-7 of the City Code for
items greater than $10,000 but less than $25,000. Greatmats.com was the lowest quote for the
same product.
