A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO. 2008-1286, REVISING THE SCHEDULE FOR CITY
COMMISSION MEETINGS FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2008 BY
MOVING THE REGULAR CITY COMMISSION MEETING
SCHEDULED ON THURSDA Y, NOVEMBER 20, 2008 TO
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2008; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to revise the
established schedule of City Commission meetings for the remainder of calendar year 2008; and
WHEREAS, specifically the City Commission wishes to move the Regular City
Commission meeting scheduled on Thursday, November 20, 2008 to Tuesday, November 18,
2008, in order for the City Commission to attend the Florida League of Cities 5th Annual Florida
Cities of Excellence A wards Program in Orlando, Florida; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Norman S. Edelcup and the City of Sunny Isles Beach are among
the top six finalists for the Mayor of the Year and for the City of Excellence for 2008 awards.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section I. Approval of Revised 2008 Schedule of Commission Meetings. The schedule for
City Commission meetings for calendar year 2008 shall be revised as set forth herein:
November 18, 2008
November 20, 2008
December 18, 2008
Section 2.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

Resolution Revising City Commission Meeting 2008 Schedule
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution amending the
schedule of City Commission meetings for the remainder of the year 2008, by moving the
regular City Commission meeting scheduled for November 20, 2008 to Tuesday, November 18,
2008.
REASONS:
The Florida League of Cities is holding its fifth annual Florida Cities of Excellence A wards
Program in Orlando, Florida, on November 21, 2008. The program is designed to highlight all
the wonderful and innovative services cities provide to improve the quality of life in Florida and
to honor dedicated city leaders and cities for their excellence in public service. The program has
ten (10) award categories, two of which is Mayor of the Year, and Florida City of Excellence
Award for 2008. Mayor Norman S. Edelcup and the City of Sunny Isles Beach have been
nominated, and the Florida League of Cities announced that Mayor Edelcup and the City of
Sunny Isles Beach are one of six finalists to win these awards.
The winners will be announced at the November 21, 2008 Florida Cities of Excellence Awards
Program event. Therefore it is requested that the City Commission move the regular City
Commission meeting scheduled on Thursday, November 20, 2008, to Tuesday, November 18,
2008, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
