RESOLUTION NO. 2009- M
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE NAMING
OF THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 165th STREET AND
COLLINS A VENUE AS "OCEANIA PARK"; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission wanted to purchase additional property for open
space/park purposes in the City of Sunny Isles Beach to improve the "Quality of life" for its
citizens and visitors; and
WHEREAS, on June 21, 2007 via Resolution No. 2007-1120, the City Commission
approved the purchase of real property folio #31-2214-008-0350, located at 165th Street and
Collins Avenue for open space/park purposes for residents of Sunny Isles Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to name the property located at 165th Street
and Collins Avenue as "Oceania Park".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Naming of City Park. The City Commission hereby declares that the
property located at 165th Street and Collins Avenue be named as "Oceania Park".
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
do all things necessary to effectuate this resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of May 2009.

RESOLUTION NAMING OCEANIA PARK
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is presented for your consideration.
REASONS:
About two years ago, the City purchased a piece of property located at 165th Street and Collins
Avenue to create more additional open space on Collins Avenue. The renovation of this property
into a beautiful plaza has been completed. Therefore, it is now the appropriate time to designate
the property as Oceania Park. This Park is the initial step in creating more open space along the
southern part of Collins Avenue.
