A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE AND EXPEND MONIES
FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE EDWARD BYRNE
MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) IN THE
AMOUNT OF SEVENTEEN THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED
FOURTEEN DOLLARS ($17,614.00), TO PURCHASE A POLARIS
RANGER 4X4 A TV TYPE VEHICLE AND SUPPLEMENT THE
PURCHASE OF A SECOND OF THE SAME; AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID GRANT APPLICATION;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice, through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice
Assistance Grant (JAG) has made available a grant in the amount of Seventeen Thousand Six
Hundred Fourteen Dollars ($17,614.00) to the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department.
WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department will purchase a Polaris Ranger 4x4
A TV type (2-passenger) vehicle and supplement the purchase of a second of the same to allow the
Police Department to provide a more effective and efficient patrol of our beaches and parks.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization to Receive and Expend Grant Money. The Chief of Police and/or the
City Manager is hereby authorized to receive and expend Seventeen Thousand Six Hundred Fourteen
Dollars ($17,614.00) of grant funds for the purchase of a Polaris Ranger 4x4 A TV type (2-passenger)
vehicle and supplement the purchase of a second of the same.
Section 2. Authorization of Mayor. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute said grant
application.
Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 4.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

Authorization to Apply For, Receive and Expend Grant Money from the
U.S. Department of Justice, Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance
Grant (JAG) for the purchase one (I) Polaris, Ranger 4x4 A TV type (2
passenger) vehicle and supplement the purchase of a second of the same..
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve a Resolution authorizing
the Mayor to apply for, receive, and expend monies from the U.S. Departmen,t of
Justice, Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program in the
amount of $17,614.00; providing for an effective date.
REASONS:
The City of Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has been given preliminary
approval of grant funds totaling $17,614.00 under the U.S. Department of
Justice, Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Recovery Act.
This money would be used to purchase one (1) Polaris, Ranger 4x4 A TV type (2
passenger) vehicle and supplement the purchase of a second of the same.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Purchasing these all-terrain beach vehicles will allow the police department to
provide a more effective and efficient patrol of our beaches and parks, as well as
allowing officers to access and maneuver throughout crowded beaches and
parks.
