RESOLUTION NO. 2009-~~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO CREATE A MERIT BASE COMPENSATION
PROGRAM CONSISTENT WITH SECTION 166.021, FLORIDA
STATUTES; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 166.021 (7), Florida Statutes, provides municipalities with the
authority to provide for an extra compensation program to reward outstanding employees; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to grant the City Manager with the authority to
create an extra compensation program, including merit bonuses, to reward outstanding
employees.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization of City Manager. The City Commission hereby authorizes the City
Manager to create an extra compensation program, including merit bonus, to reward outstanding
employees.
Section 2.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

Resolution Authorizing the City Manager with the Authority to Create
Extra Compensation Program to Reward Outstanding Employees
RECOMMENDA TION:
It is recommended that the attached Resolution be approved.
REASONS:
Section 166.021(7), Florida Statutes, provides municipalities with the authority to
develop an extra compensation program to reward outstanding employees. This
Resolution gives the City Manager the authority to create an extra compensation
program, including merit bonuses, to reward outstanding employees. The City
Commission must provide the City Manager with the authority in order to create a
compensation program to award outstanding employees.
