A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE NAMING OF THE BEACH ACCESS LOCATED AT
19Sth STREET AND COLLINS A VENUE THE "BENNETT
LIFTER BEACH ACCESS" IN HONOR AND
APPRECIATION OF HIS DEDICATION TO THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH; DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER AND/OR HIS/HER DESIGNEE TO PLACE
SIGNAGE COMMENSURATE WITH THIS DISTINCTION
AT SAID BEACH ACCESS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Bennett Lifter was a pioneer developer in the area formerly known as
Sunny Isles; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lifter once owned landmark hotels such as the Marco Polo Beach
Resort and the Waikiki Resort Motel; and
WHEREAS, through his relentless efforts, Mr. Lifter brought notability to the Sunny
Isles Beach community, donating his time, expertise and monies for the betterment of Sunny
Isles Beach and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lifter has recently passed away, this Commission wishes to honor him
for his dedication to this City by naming the beach access located at 19Sth Street and Collins
Avenue as "Bennett Lifter Beach Access".
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Naming of Beach Access. The City Commission hereby designates the beach
access located at 19Sth Street and Collins A venue the' Bennett Lifter Beach Access' in honor and
appreciation of Bennett Lifter's dedication to the enhancement of life in the City of Sunny Isles
Beach.
Section 2. Directive to Citv Manager. The City Commission hereby directs the City
Manager and/or his/her designee to place signage commensurate with this distinction at said
beach access.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
