RESOLUTION NO. 2009- ~
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING PAYMENT TO
ATLANTIC BROADBAND FOR UNDERGROUNDING CABLE
TELEVISION LINES ON ATLANTIC ISLES, IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY -EIGHT THOUSAND SIXTY -NINE
DOLLARS ($28,069.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Atlantic Broadband currently holds a franchise to provide cable television
services in the City of Sunny Isles Beach, pursuant to Resolution No. 2004-645 adopted by the City
Commission on February 25,2004; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission expressed a desire to underground the overhead utility
lines throughout the City, and is now in the process of converting the entire distribution overhead
utility lines to underground in the City; and
WHEREAS, on February 19, 2009, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2009-1392
approving payment to Atlantic Broadband to provide undergrounding of the cable television lines
along 172nd Street; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to move this project along in an expeditious manner and finish the
undergrounding of all utilities, staff negotiated with Atlantic Broadband to provide undergrounding
of the cable television lines on Atlantic Isles; and
WHEREAS, Atlantic Broadband submitted an invoice for payment, in the amount of
Twenty-Eight Thousand Sixty-Nine Dollars ($28,069.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Payment. The City Commission hereby approves payment to Atlantic
Broadband, in the amount not to exceed Twenty-Eight Thousand Sixty-Nine Dollars ($28,069.00),
for undergrounding cable television lines on Atlantic Isles.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of November 2009.

Undergrounding of Cable for Atlantic Broadband
RECOMMENDA TION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution with
Atlantic Broadband for undergrounding the cable lines.
REASONS:
As part of the current sewer/drainage project on Atlantic Isles the cable lines need to be
underground. The enclosed proposal from Atlantic Broadband is for undergrounding the
cable lines on Atlantic Isles. The cost for undergrounding the cable is for an amount not
to exceed $28,069 dollars. The conduits have already been buried in the right-of-way and
the private owner are in the process of burying the conduit in their property, now Atlantic
Broadband will then run all the cable lines.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are budgeted in 20-600-5653
