Home My WebLink AboutReso 2010-1532 RESOLUTION NO. 2010- I'S:::S ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A 2010 FORD F-150 FOR OCEAN RESCUE, FROM GUS MACHADO FORD, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY-FOUR THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($24,485.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Ocean Rescue is a seven-day per week operation in which the vehicles are subjected to harsh conditions daily, and reliable vehicles is essential to the performance of the Ocean Rescue operation; and WHEREAS, the Ocean Rescue Division now needs to purchase a 2010 Ford F-150 from Gus Machado under the Miami-Dade County Bid No. 3193-1/11-0TR, in an amount not to exceed Twenty-Four Thousand Four Hundred Eighty-Five Dollars ($24,485.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, staff determined that the above charges were reasonable and customary for said purchase and recommends that the Commission approve the purchase. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authorizing the Purchase of Vehicle. The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase of a 2010 Ford F-150 for Ocean Rescue from Gus Machado Ford, in an amount not to exceed Twenty-Four Thousand Four Hundred Eighty-Five Dollars ($24,485.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. REASONS: The Ocean Rescue Division is a 7 -day a week safety operation that relies heavily on vehicles and equipment to cover the 2.5 miles of beach in Sunny Isles Beach. The current Ocean Rescue vehicle is 5 years old and is frequently out for maintenance. In order to continue to use that vehicle the transmission would need replaced as well as several other less critical items that would cost a significant amount of money with no guarantee of reliability.
