AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, REDUCING THE SPEED LIMIT IN GOLDEN
SHORES OCEAN BLVD ESTATES SUBDMON FROM THE CURRENT
POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 30 MPH TO 20 MPH; PROVIDING FOR THE
POSTING OF THE NEW REDUCED SPEED LIMIT; PROVIDING
PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS; PROVIDING FOR A WARNING
PERIOD; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDED FOR
INCLUSION IN THE CODE; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF
CONFLICTING PROVISIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, there has been an increase in the number of younger families with children
moving into the Golden Shores area, and the City has established a park in the area increasing
pedestrian traffic;
WHEREAS, the City is authorized by Interlocal Agreement and COWlty Code section
30-299 to reduce the existing speed limit;
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach deems it to be in the best interest of the
health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Golden Shores Ocean Blvd Estates to reduce the
existing speed limit from 30 MPH to 20 MPH;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
S~ion 1. Speed limit within Golden Shores Ocean Blvd Estates Subdivision. There is
hereby established a new reduced speed limit of no more than 20 Miles Per Hour on the
following streets as follows:
a. From the SE comer of 185 Street and Atlantic Blvd to the NE comer of 191
Terrace, west toward North Bay road and S/SE to SW comer of 185 Street and
North Bay Road; including all of 185 Street, 186 Street, 187 Street, 188 Street,
189 Street, 189 Terrace, 190 Terrace, 191 Street, and 191 Terrace within Golden
Shores Ocean Blvd Estates Subdivision (31-2202-006,007,008, and 009).
Section 1-2. Posting of Established Speed Limit. All speed zones shall be posted with clearly
legible signs. No change shall take effect until the authority changing the speed limit posts the
zone.
Section 1-3. Penalties For Violation. Violations of the speed limit(s) established herein shall
be punished as set forth in Section 30-208 as adopted and as may be modified.

Section 1-4. Warning Period Established. The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department is herby
authorized to issue warning to first time violators of the 20 MPH speed limit once posted for a
reasonable time frame to be set by the Chief of Police.
Section 1-5. Severability.
Provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable and if any section, sentence, clause or
phrase of this Ordinance shall be held to be invalid or unconstitutional, shall decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining section, sentences, clauses and phrases of this Ordinance, but
they shall remain in effect it being the legislative intent that this Ordinance shall stand
notwithstanding the invalidity of any part.
Section 1-6. Inclusion In Code.
It is the intention of this Commission and is hereby ordained that the provisions of this
Ordinance shall become and made part of the City of Sunny Isles Beach Code; that the Sections
of this Ordinance may be renumbered or re-lettered to accomplish such intentions, and that the
word "Ordinance" shall be changed to Section or other appropriate word.
Section 1-7. Repealer.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
Section 1-8. Effective Date.
This ordinance shall become effective as provided by law.
