AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING THE SUNNY ISLES BEACH CODE BY
REPEALING SECTION 256-14 IN ITS ENTIRETY AND
CREATING A NEW SECTION ENTITLED "PARKING
METER RATES" TO ESTABLISH NEW METER
RATES FOR THE METERED PARKING LOTS WITHIN
THE CITY; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
PROVIDING FOR REPEALER; PROVIDING FOR
INCLUSION IN THE CODE; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to repeal the existing parking meter rates and
establish new parking meter rates for the Ellen Wynne Beach Access, the William Lehman
Overpass (Center Island), Pier Park, and under the William Lehman Bridge parking lots; and
WHEREAS, this new fee schedule will help offset some administrative and operational
costs for the metered parking areas, as well as serve the public's needs.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Repeal. Section 256-14 of the City Code entitled "Permit/decal fees and hourly
meter rates" is repealed in its entirety.

Amendment. Section 256.14 is amended as follows:
Parkin!!: Meter Rates.
The parking meter rates at the Ellen Wvnne Beach Access and the William
Lehman Overpass (Center Island) parking lots shall be Two Dollars ($2.00) for
each hour. with a minimum purchase of one (1) hour and a maximum of twelve
(12) hours.
The parking meter rates at the Pier Park and under the William Lehman Bridge
parking lots shall be as follows:
(1) Six Dollars ($6.00) - flat rate fee during weekdav hours. with a
maximum purchase of twelve (12) hours. Weekdavs shall begin
At 12:00 a.m. on Mondav and terminate at 11 :59 p.m. on the
Fridav that immediatelv follows.
(2) Ten Dollars ($10.00) - flat rate per dav on weekends and Citv-
observed holidavs, with a maximum of twelve (12) hours.
Weekends shall begin at 12:00 a.m. on Saturdav and end at 11:59
p.m. on Sundav.
C. Enforcement - The Citv Manager or his/her designee shall enforce the parking
meter rates listed in this Section twentv-four (24) hours and seven (7) davs per
week.
Section 3. Severability. The provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable and if
any section, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance shall for any reason be held to be
invalid or unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining sections,
sentences, clauses, and phrases of this Ordinance but they shall remain in effect, it being the
legislative intent that this Ordinance shall stand notwithstanding the invalidity of any part.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall become effective ten (10) days after
adoption on second reading.

Parking Meter Rates Ordinance
At its regular meeting of November 16, 2006, the City Commission adopted Ordinance No.
2006-266, which established new parking meter rates in the City. Attached is a copy of the
approving ordinance for your files.

RECOM.MENDA nON:
It is recommended that the Gty Commission approve the attached Ordinance.
REASON:
The Gty Commission desires to establish new parking meter rates for the Ellen Wynne Beach
Access, the William Lehman Ovetpass (Center Island), Pier Park, and under the William Lehman
Bridge parking lots. The proposed rates will offset some of the administrative and operational costs
for the metered parking areas as well as serve the public's need for parking.
The proposed rate changes are as follows:

All parking lots will operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week with a twelve hour maximum. A
one hour minimum will apply to the hourly lots with 15 minute increments thereafter at .50 cents
per 15 minute increment.
