A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, PURSUANT TO SECTION 5.1 OF
THE MUNICIPAL CHARTER, CALLING FOR A GENERAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2010, FOR THE PURPOSE
OF SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORATE OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH THE NAMES OF ALL QUALIFIED CANDIDATES FOR
ELECTION TO THE POSITION OF MAYOR, CITY COMMISSIONER,
SEAT 02 (CENTRAL RESIDENTIAL AREA), AND OF CITY
COMMISSIONER, SEAT 04 (MID-SOUTH RESIDENTIAL AREA);
PROVIDING FOR A RUN-OFF ELECTION, IF NECESSARY, TO BE
HELD ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2010; PROVIDING FOR
CONDUCTING THE ELECTIONS, POLLING PLACES, FORM OF
BALLOT, VOTER REGISTRATION, NOTICE OF ELECTIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 5.1 of the Municipal Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach,
provides: "A general election shall be held in even-numbered years in November. A run-off
election, if necessary, shall be held in December.", and in conjunction with elections held by
Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, on November 18, 2008 the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2008-
1341 accepting the results of the Special Election held on November 4, 2008 changing the
general elections to even-numbered years in November in conjunction with elections held by
Miami-Dade County; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections and his staff of officials
shall serve as Canvassing Board; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Calling a General Election. In accordance with the Municipal Charter of the
City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, and the general laws of the State of Florida, a General
Election is hereby called and directed to be held in the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida,
from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2,2010, for the purpose of submitting to
the electorate the names of all qualified candidates for election to the positions of Mayor, City
Commissioner, Seat 02 (central residential area), and of City Commissioner, Seat 04 (mid-
south residential area).
Section 2. Conducting the Elections. The City Clerk is authorized to utilize the services
of the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections and his staff of officials in the conduct of
said General Election. The Miami-Dade County Election Officials shall furnish the official

returns for each precinct to the City Clerk of the City of Sunny Isles Beach as soon as the
ballots from all precincts have been tabulated, and the Miami-Dade County Election's
Department Canvassing Board's certification of the duly accepted results of said election shall
be accepted by the City Commission.
Section 3. Polling Places. That said polling places in the City of Sunny Isles Beach for
said General Election shall be as established by the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of
Elections and his staff of officials. All electors shall vote at the polling places and the voting
precincts in which the OFFICIAL REGISTRATION BOOKS show that the said electors
reside. A list of the voting precincts and the polling places therein (subject to change by the
Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Election, in accordance with the laws of Florida) is
attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 4. Form of Ballot. The ballot for said General Election shall be printed in
compliance with State law as prepared by the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections,
and as approved by the City Clerk as the Supervisor of Election for the City.
Section 5. V oter Registration. Registration of persons desiring to vote in said General
Election shall be in accordance with the general laws of the State of Florida governing voter
registration. Qualified persons may obtain registration forms to vote at the Office of the City
Clerk, Government Center, 18070 Collins Avenue, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, 33160,
Monday through Friday, except legal holidays, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.,
and at such other voter registration centers and during such times as may be provided by the
Mianli-Dade County Supervisor of Elections. Each person desiring to become a registered
voter shall be responsible for properly filling out the registration form and returning it to the
Miami-Dade County Elections Office. All completed registration forms must be received by
the Miami-Dade County Elections Office and clocked in no later than Monday, October 4,
2010, at 5:00 p.m., for the General Election (and no later than Monday, November 8, 2010, at
5 :00 p.m. for a run-off election, if necessary) in order for a person to vote in said elections. All
questions concerning voter registration should be directed to the Miami-Dade County
Elections Office, 2700 N.W. 8ih Avenue, Doral, Florida, 33172; telephone: 305-499-8502.
Section 6. Notice of Elections. Thr.t not less than thirty days notice of said General
Election shall be given by publication in a newspaper of general circulation in Sunny Isles
Beach, Miami-Dade County, Florida, the first publication to be in the fifth week prior to the
election, and the second publication to be in the third week prior to said Election.
Section 7.
Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

Resolution Calling a General Election to be Held on Tuesday, November
2, 2010, and a Run-Off Election, if Necessary, on Tuesday, December 7,
2010
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution which
provides for conducting a General Election on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, and, if
necessary, a Run-Off Election on Tuesday, December 7, 2010.
REASONS:
This Resolution provides the required details regarding the conduct of the upcoming
General Election, and if necessary, a run-off election, for the purpose of submitting to the
electorate the names of all qualified candidates for election to the positions of Mayor,
City Commissioner, Seat 02 (central residential area), and of City Commissioner, Seat 4
(mid-south residential area). The Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections and his
staff of officials shall serve as Canvassing Board.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Pursuant to Section 5.1 of the Municipal Charter, a general election shall be held in even-
numbered years in November, and if necessary, a run-off election in December, in
conjunction with elections held by Miami-Dade County.

a General Election on November 2, 2010, for the purpose of submitting to the electorate of the
City of Sunny Isles Beach the names of all qualified candidates for Mayor, City Commissioner
Seat 2, and City Commissioner Seat 4, and establishing December 7, 2010 as the run-off Election
date, as adopted by the Sunny Isles Beach City Commission on July 15, 2010. Please note that
