HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2010-1540 ....... , I RESOLUTION NO. 2010- I 54D A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF A THREE-WHEELED ELECTRIC RIDE SCOOTER FROM THE P ARRILLO FAMILY IN CONJUNCTION WITH ARGUS FIRE AND CASUAL TY COMPANY FOR THE SUNNY ISLES BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, with the development of additional parks and green space within the City of Sunny Isles Beach, including but not limited to Heritage Park and The Intracoastal Parks, there will be a need for additional police patrol to provide public safety; and WHEREAS, not all spaces and areas are traversable by way of vehicle; and WHEREAS, Richard Parrillo on behalf of the Parrillo Family in Conjunction with Argus Fire and Casualty Company wishes to donate a three-wheeled electric Ride Scooter to the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department; and WHEREAS, the addition of a three-wheeled scooter, completely marked and identified as an official police vehicle, will add to the safety and coverage of these areas; and WHEREAS, the City is grateful for this gift for the Police Department to provide added protection and safety to its residents and visitors. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Acceptance. The City Commission hereby approves the acceptance of the donation of a three-wheeled electric Rider Scooter for the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department from the Parrillo Family in conjunction with Argus Fire and Casualty Company. Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of March 2010. Grandinetti, Captain 3/18/2010 Approval to accept donation of a three (3) wheeled Electric "Ride" Scooter RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution to approve the acceptance of a donation of a (3) three wheel, electric Ride Scooter for use by the Police Department from the Parrillo Family in conjunction with Argus Fire and Casualty. REASONS: With the development of additional parks and green space within the City, including but not limited to HeritagePark and the Intracoastal Parks, there will be a need for additional police patrol to provide public safety.
