A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE UNITED WAY
OF MIAMI-DADE, IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE THOUSAND
TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($1,200.00); AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY
TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting
various social services programs of interest and benefit to its residents and fellow man; and
WHEREAS, the United Way of Miami-Dade's Mission is building community by
helping people care for one another, working to advance the common good by creating
opportunities for a better life for all, focusing on improving education, income and health - the
building blocks for a good life; and
WHEREAS, the United Way of Miami-Dade goal is to create long-lasting changes that
prevent problems from happening in the first place; and
WHEREAS, the United Way of Miami-Dade invest in quality programs, advocate for
better policies, engage people in the community and generate resources; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to give a charitable contribution to the United
Way of Miami-Dade, in an amount of One Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($1,200.00).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. Authorization of Donation. The City Commission hereby authorizes a charitable
contribution to the United Way of Miami-Dade, in an amount of One Thousand Five Hundred
Dollars ($1,200.00).
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

Charitable Contribution to United Way of Miami-Dade
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing a
charitable contribution to the United Way of Miami-Dade.
REASONS:
The United Way of Miami-Dade's mission is building community by helping people care for one
another, and working to advance the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for
all. Their focus is on improving education, income and health - the building blocks for a good
life, with a goal to create long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first
place. The United Way of Miami-Dade invests in quality programs, advocate for better policies,
engage people in the community, and generates resources.
The City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting various social
services programs of interest and benefit to its residents and fellow man, and I am proposing that
we continue that tradition by giving a contribution to the United Way of Miami-Dade of One
Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($1,200.00).

At its meeting of October 14, 2010, the City Commission adopted Resolution
No. 2010-1627, which approved a One Thousand Two Hundred Dollar ($1,200)
charitable contribution to the United Way of Miami-Dade. Enclosed is a copy
of the approving legislation and Sunny Isles Beach check no. 3497 in the
amount of $1 ,200.
