Jackson Memorial Hospital West Wing Lobby Renovation, Miami, FL - Interior Designer and project manager: of major interior renovation of the main lobby of a county public hospital. The phasing of construction was paramount. Satisfying ACHA requirements, security needs, the ongoing administrative and patient care functions, all the while providing convenient public access, required a focused, yet flexible, project team, led by our project managers and including a variety of hospital staff and a knowledgeable contractor. POINT OF CONTACT NAME Flor Mayoral, MD 24. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) Office suite for a doctor of dermatology and cutaneous surgery. As an educator, her office uses the latest technology combined with customized patient treatment. Her evolving practice demanded a unique design, which conveyed a relaxed and healing environment (art throughout was to be the doctor's own award winning photography), The reception area is open to the service areas; walls are penetrated by glass features. The curve of the "hello" reception desk continues through the partition into the "good bye" section. This curve is mirrored, across the room, with the medical assistant's center. Materials throughout relate to nature and sustainability - sandstone, cork and recyclable carpet, wood ceiling inserts and tumbled glass tiles. The design resembles a spa with soothing colors and a waterfall that evokes a feeling of calmness and tranquility - a frothy sea green and a sandy cream flow throughout the suite. Roomy exam and treatment rooms continue the soft color scheme but feature modern treatment "tables" and articulated exam lights. In contrast, the doctor's offices are small but well appointed with open/floating desk units, light in both color and feel. Windows have sheer adjustable treatments. Each office features a vibrantly colored task chair. The doctor's glass topped desk is underplayed by one of her awarded photos. A gallery hanging system accommodated the doctor's changing photo display; and is intended as a gallery for the display of artists mentored by the doctor. Fully upholstered waiting room chairs hug the walls, but are off-set by floating, organically shaped, seating platforms. A formalized datum surrounding a whimsical feature. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) Project Description: The ground level is composed only of new public restroom, vertical access and limited storage. This design has three separate straight stairs, which provide easy vertical circulation from just about any point of the overall site. The concept was developed as an "l" shaped footprint which separates public from private by propinquity. This is to say that, while everything is on the same level, they are juxtapositioned in such a way that they can co-exist in harmonic order, allowing both public and private users privacy. The design provides a shared elevator which will serve all of the functions. The multipurpose room has its own stair and (2) two restrooms, as well as a small kitchenette area. Since all of the functions are on one level, the multipurpose room may serve as a larger conference room or lounge for the Dock Master. The design also offers men's and women's private restroom and shower areas, as well as a laundry room. The Dock Master Offices are made up of (3) three private offices, a large conference room, storage room copy & file area and a private toilet. As you enter the Dock Master Office, you will enter a compact lobby and reception area. This concept takes into account ventilation and other green building attributes. The large overhangs, typical of the Florida Vernacular Style are taken advantage of in this design, which allows for a three-sided terrace surrounding the Dock Master's office. Furthermore, the narrowness and tightness of the "l" shaped design allows the new building to open up to the marina and creates a sense of space in the plaza outside. 25.
