Reference Project Name/Address: City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida Reference Project Description: Scope of Services Provided: Central Island Drainage and Street Improvements Value engineering of existing drainage design, evaluation of drainage alternative, preliminary design final pavement rehabilitation and drainage design using deep wells and technical assistance during bidding process. Beiswenger, Hoch and Associates was invited to evaluate a previously design stormwater drainage system. BHA evaluated that system and upon an environmental, feasibility and cost evaluation, recommended for a new design using a series of drainage wells interconnected for flow equalization. The system recommended by BHA eliminated direct outfalls to the ecological sensitive Dumbfoundling Bay. ,J 4 This drainage and street improvement project is part of the Comprehensive Plan to alleviate flooding problems throughout the City of Sunny Isles Beach. BHA's approach to solve the flooding problems of the Central Island neighborhood was to utilize Drainage wells. This drainage and street improvement project is the first of its kind to utilize 22 Stormwater Drainage Wells for flood control. The injection wells are modeled to equalize runoff injection to the water table. b. Reference Project Name/Address: City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida Reference Project Description: Scope of Services Provided: Golden Shores drainage and street improvements Survey, street widening and revised preliminary and final design and construction inspection. Project Start Date: Nov. 2000 Project Completion Date: Mar. 2003 Construction Completion Date: Jan. 15, 2003 $ 3,449,896.56 Professional Fees: $ 448,864.00 Construction Start Date: 3/2002 Project Construction Cost: The City of Sunny Isles Beach was experiencing drainage problems with the recently completed storm drainage pumping system built in the Golden Shores neighborhood. The objective of this project was to identify and quantify alternative methods to remedy the current problems: Drainage evaluation, final design and technical construction assistance to the City were included in this project: The project encompassed four phases of development. BHA provided consulting engineering services for all phases listed below: Phase I: Flood control study and evaluation of the existing storm sewer system and pumping station. Completed on January 2001. Phase II: Photogrammetric and planimetric mapping of this 80 acre site, pavement condition survey, plan production for the reconstruction of the storm sewer system, street widening and signalization. This phase also included the electro-mechanical refurbishment of the pumping station and new flood control staging. Storm sewer rehabilitation using epoxy resins and polyester liner was utilized. The 9,100 linear feet of storm sewer "cured in place piping" (CIPP) rehabilitation process is considered the largest of its kind in the US and was published on the July 2002 issue of the "Trenchless Technology " magazine. Drainage problem in one section of this neighborhood was accomplished by using four (4) Storm Drainage Wells. Phase III: Technical assistance to the City of Sunny Isles Beach for letting and bidding process for the implementation of this 3.5 million construction cost project. Completed on October 2001. Phase IV: Consulting engineering services for the construction supervision (CEI) for the construction of this project. Completed on January 2003. 5 4. See SF330 Form S. Name, title, qualifications, experience and contact information of proposed contact person Robert Deuser, Vice President Mr. Deuser joined BHA in 1976 and presently directs programs in the area of transportation planning, master plan studies, PD&E studies and roadway/ bridge design projects. Mr. Deuser served as Project Manager for the Master Plan Study for SR 836 (East-West Expressway) in Dade County. This facility is approximately 12 miles in length. The study includes mainline improvements, interchange improvements, HOV treatments a direct connector between the expressway and Miami International Airport and the possible use as a mass transit corridor. Mr. Deuser also served as Project Manager on the Golden Glades interchange Master Plan and PD&E Study in Dade County. This project involved the development of a conceptual design plan, environmental documentation/approvals, and preliminary engineering. The interchange encompasses six major facilities with 69 interchange connections to be made. It has an average weekday volume of 320,000 vehicles through the interchange over 24 incoming lanes.
