A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING ONE REGISTERED
VOTER WHO SHALL SERVE WITH THE CITY MANAGER AND THE
CITY CLERK AS THE CANVASSING BOARD FOR A RUN-OFF
ELECTION, IF NECESSARY, TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER
7,2010; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on July 15, 2010, via Resolution No. 2010-1578, and in accordance with
the Municipal Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, and the general laws of the
State of Florida, the City Commission called and directed that a General Election be held on
Tuesday, November 2, 2010, in conjunction with elections held by Miami-Dade County, and
for a Run-Off Election, if necessary, on December 7, 2010, for the purpose of submitting to
the electorate the names of all qualified candidates for election to the positions of Mayor, City
Commissioner, Seat 02 (central residential area), and of City Commissioner, Seat 04 (mid-
south residential area); and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections and his staff of officials
shall serve as Canvassing Board for the November 2, 2010 General Election; and
WHEREAS, if a Run-Off Election is needed on December 7, 2010, the City
Commission designates a registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk
as the City of Sunny Isles Beach's Canvassing Board for the Run-Off Election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Designation of One Registered Voter to Serve on the Canvassing Board. The
City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach hereby designates Emanuel Pine, as the
registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the City of Sunny Isles
Beach's Canvassing Board for the Run-Off Election, if needed, on December 7,2010.
Section 2.
Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of October 2010.

Designation of a Registered Voter to Serve on the Canvassing Board
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution designating
Emanuel Pine to Serve on the Canvassing Board.
REASONS:
In accordance with the City Charter, the City Commission via Resolution No. 2010-
1578, called a General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, and for a
Run-Off Election, if necessary, on December 7, 2010, for the purpose of submitting to
the electorate the names of all qualified candidates for election to the positions of Mayor,
City Commissioner, Seat 02 (Central Residential Area), and of City Commissioner, Seat
04 (Mid-South Residential Area).
The Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections and his staff of officials are serving as
the Canvassing Board for the November 2,2010 General Election. However, if a Run-
Off Election is needed on December 7, 2010, the City Commission must designate a
registered voter to serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the City's
Canvassing Board. Emanuel Pine has served on the City's Canvassing Board for several
years, and he is willing and able to serve again. He has proved to be very knowledgeable
of the process, and therefore it is recommended that Mr. Pine be designated as a member
of the Canvassing Board.

Congratulations on being designated by the City Commission as a member of the Sunny Isles
Beach Canvassing Board for the December 7, 2010 Run-Off Election, if needed. As you
know, the Miami-Dade Elections Department Officials will serve as Canvassing Board for
the November 2, 2010 General Election.
Enclosed please find a certified copy of Resolution No. 2010-1621, adopted on October 14,
2010 by the Sunny Isles Beach City Commission, designating one registered voter who shall
serve with the City Manager and the City Clerk as the Canvassing Board for said Run-Off
Election. Also enclosed is the Canvassing Board Schedule for the December 7, 2010
Run-Off Election.
