The CWI Team is qualified, experienced and poised to provide exceptional civil engineering services, including design, construction documents, construction administration and various reports. The CWI Team has successfully completed many projects throughout Miami-Dade County, on- time and on-budget. We have provided Professional Engineering Services Contracts to the Village of Palmetto Bay, the Town of Medley, Florida Department of Transportation, Coral Springs and other cities. We have the available staffto work on several different projects at the same time and are totally committed to providing responsive service to the City of Sunny Isles Belich. Bell, P.E., Project Manager has 27 years of experience with Civil Engineering and Roadway Design. Ms. Bell recently designed the Stormwater Improvements for the Town of Medley. In 2002, Ms. Bell designed the Atlantic A venue Drainage Improvements for Sunny Isles Beach. Vaughn Soares, P.E., will be a second point of contact for the City. Mr. Soares has 17 years of stormwater, environmental and other civil engineering experience. The 8-lane divided roadway includes a two lane frontage road. This project included milling and resurfacing, and the redesign of the typical section to include Bike Lanes. This project included Innovative Drainage Design, Contract Document Production for Milling, Resurfacing, and Striping ofthis three-lane undivided industrial roadway. This roadway experienced heavy silting deposits from the nearby concrete plant. These deposits clogged the existing drainage system. Client: Miami-Dade County DERM Description of work: Belen Area Drainage Improvements from SW 8th Street to NE 6th Street and from SW 132nd Avenue to SW 1 1 8th Avenue Miami-Dade, FL This project included the study and design of drainage improvements for a one and one-half square mile area funded by FEMA. The drainage analysis and report was developed with 23 basins and included approximately 5 miles of exfiltration trench, conveyance piping, two 110 cfs storm water pump stations running in parallel and two outfalls to the adjacent Tamiami Canal. Drainage permits were obtained from DERM for this project. An existing South Florida Water Management District Canal outfall was used as an emergency overflow in one basin. Const. This segment ofSR-834 is a six-lane, divided principal arterial roadway with raised landscaped medians, flush stabilized shoulders, and drainage swales. Mr. Hadad with over 15 years of experience and extensive knowledge of the theories, principles and practices in the land surveying profession, as well as local, state and federal regulations. He has the ability to apply advanced technologies in the preparation of land surveying documents and legal instruments, and documents required to obtain or convey interests in land for public purposes. Mr. Hadad with over 15 years of experience is proposed to provide surveyong service in support of City projects. Mr. Hadad has extensive knowledge of the theories, principles and practices in the land surveying profession, as well as local, state and federal regulations. He has the ability to apply advanced technologies in the preparation ofland surveying documents and legal instruments and documents required to obtain or convey interests in land for public purposes. Geosol, Inc. provides geotechnical engineering and testing services, including subsurface exploration studies, laboratory testing, engineering, consulting, and design offoundation systems. The firm has a reputation for providing high quality, creative and cost effective geotechnical engineering solutions for clients in the public sector. Geosol has become very actively involved in the rapid growth of South Florida and has already participated as a Soils, Foundations and Materials Testing sub-consultant in more than 250 major projects. Geosol clients include FDOT, Tri-County Commuter Rail Authority Miami-Dade, Miami-Dade County Transit Authority, County Housing Agency, Miami-Dade County Public Works Department, and other South Florida Counties. Oracio Riccobono, P.E. is proposed as the project geotechnical engineer of record. He has 22 years of experience and has worked on numerous medium to large geotechnical engineering projects for the public sector, both, domestically and overseas. His expertise includes subsurface explorations, laboratory studies, geotechnical design, analyses and recommendations related to the design and construction of foundation elements of numerous transportation projects, for highway, railroad, marine and airport facilities. Once the scope has been approved by the City's Project Manger, a Kick-off meeting will be held to ensure that all team members understand the project's scope, objectives, budget constraints, schedule, project issues, and each individual's responsibilities. This Professional Services Contract may include a variety of projects, each of which will have a unique scope. CWI will evaluate each project request individually and will assign the project team members based on their experience and expertise relative to the project's scope and requirements. This will ensure that the team will have the expertise and man-power needed for each project. CWl's Approach to Technical Issues: CWI is keenly aware of the necessity for maintaining the production budget and schedule. Utility Coordination with FP&L, BellSouth and others can be very challenging at times, therefore, our approach is to obtain the required utility information very early in the process. If needed, we use SUE ("Soft-dig") to locate utilities identified to be in conflict with the design and for all structural foundations. All project designs will meet the applicable City, County and State standards and criteria. Special attention will be given to roadside safety and ADA compliance. QAlQC reviews will be performed on all contract documents before submittal to the City. CWI has provided safety improvements for many roadways. Each location has particular conditions requiring individual design attention to meet current safety standards. Our staff is trained in Traffic Control Design and will provide careful planning and coordination to provide safety for the public. CWl's Approach to Managerial Issues: CWI has provided effective project management for numerous projects with varied Stakeholders on many projects. CWI recently coordinated the FDOT, NE 2 Avenue project at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) as part of the 1-395 improvements in the City of Miami. We handled the managerial challenges with special meetings, e-mails, site visits and personal attention to the different designers and agencies in order to produce a complete and rewarding project. To meet the project goals, CWI uses a Team Approach with a single-point of contact. We believe in early coordination of resources and scheduled team meetings to review the project schedule and workload. These team meeting include both CWl's staff and our proven Sub-consultants. Our team will function as an extension of the City's office to provide solutions for tasks assigned. Civil Works' Design Philosophy includes the efficient design of projects for the safety and betterment of the public. Our design philosophy includes the careful analysis of the project's objectives to provide an aesthetically pleasing, functional and cost effective design. CWI also employs the "KISS principle" ("Keep It Short & Simple"). When dealing with an engineering problem, there is always a tendency to complicate the solution far more than the problem requires. This "KISS" concept strives to eliminate unnecessary complications. The steps for a Typical Project under this contract might include: Issuance of the LOA and Kick Off Meeting. The CWI Project Manager, Linda Bell, P .E., will assign the staff; establish the schedule; and implement the QA/QC plan. Document Acquisition and Review: CWI will collect and review all available documents. Field Inspection of Existing Conditions: cWI will visit the project, visually review the existing conditions and photograph the items or issues of concern. Pre-design Permitting Requirements: Civil Works will coordinate our plans with the City and the permitting agencies. This avoids surprises at the end of the of the project. Plans Preparation: The Final Plans Package will be in conformance with the latest Standards. These projects will be prepared in AutoCAD or Microstation. All contract documents will be checked prior to each phase submittal as part of CWl's Quality Assurance/Quality Control program. Permitting and Construction Administration will be provided as needed. A field inventory of the pavement condition was conducted and an analysis matrix for pavement overlay was provided. The roads were prioritized for asphalt overlay including a 7-year work program. For efficiency, the sidewalk inventory was conducted simultaneous to the pavement inventory. The sidewalk locations and the identification of any "gaps" were catalogued. Both the pavement and sidewalk inventory were inserted into a G IS Village plan identifying the pavement and sidewalk prioritization in various colors.
