A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, CO-NAMING 1681h TERRACE
AS "CITY COMMISSIONER ROSLYN BREZIN TERRACE",
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXPEND FUNDS IN
AN AMOUNT OF UP TO $600.00, FOR THE INSTALLATION OF
STREET SIGNS AND TO DO ALL OTHER THINGS NECESSARY
TO EFFECTUATE THE INTENT OF THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, City Commissioner Roslyn Brezin has served as a public servant since
October 2003, being appointed City Commissioner by Mayor Norman S. Ede1cup to fill his seat
of At-Large City Commissioner, after the death of Mayor David Samson; and
WHEREAS, historically Commissioner Brezin was one of the incorporators of the City
that assisted in the incorporation of Sunny Isles Beach, an original member of the Charter
Review Committee when the City was first formed in 1997, and a member of the Citizens'
Planning Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Brezin is the second member, along with Commissioner
Gerry Goodman, to be termed out in our City due to term limits, as she ran unopposed in 2005;
and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate and fitting that 168th Terrace be named "City
Commissioner Roslyn Brezin Terrace" to honor the contributions that Commissioner Brezin has
made to this City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Co-Naming of Street. The City of Sunny Isles Beach formally
approves and requests the approval of Miami-Dade to co-designate 168th Terrace as "City
Commissioner Roslyn Brezin Terrace" in honor of Commissioner Roslyn Brezin.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
disburse funds to Miami-Dade County for the installation of street signs and to do all other things
necessary to effectuate the intent of this resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This resolution will become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of November 2010.

Resolution to Co-Name 168th Terrace as "City Commissioner Roslyn
Brezin Street"
RECOMMENDATION:
Attached is a Resolution for the City Commission's consideration to co-name 168th
Terrace as "City Commissioner Roslyn Brezin Street".
REASONS:
City Commissioner Roslyn Brezin was one of the incorporators of the City that assisted
in the incorporation of Sunny Isles Beach,. She was an original member of the Charter
Review Committee when the City was first formed in 1997, and a member of the
Citizens' Planning Advisory Committee. She was appointed in 2003 to fill Mayor
Norman S. Edelcup's At-Large City Commissioner seat after the death of Mayor David
Samson. She ran unopposed in the last election, and she will now be the second
Commissioner, along with Commissioner Goodman, to term out due to term limits. It is
therefore appropriate and fitting that 168th Terrace be named "City Commissioner
Roslyn Brezin Street".
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Once approved, City staff will produce and install the proper signage in an amount not to
exceed $600. Further, City staff will plan a ceremony honoring Commissioner Roslyn
Brezin at a street dedication ceremony.
