A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, CO-NAMING 182ND DRIVE AS
"CITY COMMISSIONER GERALD "GERRY" GOODMAN
DRIVE", AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXPEND
FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT OF UP TO $600.00, FOR THE
INST ALLA TION OF STREET SIGNS AND TO DO ALL OTHER
THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE INTENT OF THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, City Commissioner Gerry Goodman has served as a public servant since
November 2001; and
WHEREAS, historically Commissioner Goodman was one of the incorporators of the
City that assisted in the incorporation of Sunny Isles Beach, and he continued to be very active in
the City including being on the Citizens' Planning Advisory Committee, and attending all of the
City Commission meetings before he was elected to the City Commission in 2001, and reelected
in 2005; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Goodman is the second member, along with Commissioner
Roslyn Brezin, to be termed out in our City due to term limits; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate and fitting that 182nd Drive be named "City Commissioner
Gerald "Gerry" Goodman Drive" to honor the contributions that Commissioner Goodman has
made to this City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Co-Naming of Street. The City of Sunny Isles Beach formally
approves and requests the approval of Miami-Dade to co-designate 182nd Drive as "City
Commissioner Gerald "Gerry" Goodman Drive" in honor of Commissioner Gerry Goodman.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
disburse funds to Miami-Dade County for the installation of street signs and to do all other things
necessary to effectuate the intent of this resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This resolution will become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of November 2010.

Resolution to Co-Name 182nd Drive as "City Commissioner Gerry
Goodman Street"
RECOMMENDATION:
Attached is a Resolution for the City Commission's consideration to co-name 182nd
Drive as "City Commissioner Gerry Goodman Street".
REASONS:
City Commissioner Gerry Goodman was one of the incorporators of the City that assisted
in the incorporation of Sunny Isles Beach, and a member of the Citizens' Planning
Advisory Committee. He was very active in the City, and is very instrumental in making
this City the progressive City it is today, attending and participating in all the City
Commission meetings before he was elected to the City Commission in 2001, and
reelected in 2005. He will now be the second Commissioner, along with Commissioner
Brezin, to term out due to term limits. It is therefore appropriate and fitting that 182nd
Drive be named "City Commissioner Gerry Goodman Street".
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Once approved, City staff will produce and install the proper signage in an amount not to
exceed $600. Further, City staff will plan a ceremony honoring Commissioner Gerry
Goodman at a street dedication ceremony.
