Home My WebLink AboutReso & bid reportI RESOLUTION NO. 2001 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AWARDING A BID TO BROWN AND BROWN /COREGIS INSURANCE GROUP, FOR COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE AND BROKERAGE SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD BID TO SAID COMPANY AND NEGOTIATE INSURANCE AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City noticed Request for Proposals No. 01 -03 -01 for qualified Insurance Brokers capable of pr0vvtdip comprehensive scope of services, which bids were opened on May 18, 2001; and WHEREAS, the City performed an exposure analysis of the current insurance program and found that the City needed to improve its insurance coverage in the area of defending public officials, police officers, and general liability due to the growth of services in the City; and WHEREAS, five brokers responded with only two brokers providing insurance company quotations; and WHEREAS, the two brokers were Brown & Brown/Coregis Insurance Company and the Mack Group /St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company, and both insurance companies are rated "A" by A.M. Best Rating Service; and WHEREAS, the City retained Insurance Consultants Services, Inc. to perform a detailed review and analysis of the proposals and has yielded a recommendation for Brown & Brown/Coregis Insurance Company proposal. Comprehensive Insurance and Brokerage Services 1 6/15/01 12:10 PM WHEREAS, the following coverages which are attached as Exhibit "A" were presented in the approximate amounts to the City of Sunny Isles Beach by Brown & Brown/Coregis Insurance Group: • General Liability $ 23,918 (Included Duty to Defend) • Property Insurance 16,988 • Crime 2,219 • Flood 1,952 • Glass 1,230 • Auto 49,690 • Public Officials 24,840 • Law Enforcement Liability (Included under General Liability) • Brokerage Service Fee 17,508 • Umbrella 28,639 • Total $166,984 • Workers Compensation $213,928 • Grand Total $380,912 WHEREAS, the City retained Insurance Consultants Services, Inc. to perform a detailed review and analysis of the proposals and has yielded a recommendation for Brown & Brown/Coregis Insurance Company proposal. Comprehensive Insurance and Brokerage Services 1 6/15/01 12:10 PM NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein by reference. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to award the bid to Brown & Brown/Coregis Insurance Company, to negotiate an agreement with the insurance carrier providing that the City Attorney review such agreement for form and legal sufficiency.
