Professional Welding was established in 1968 as a sole proprietorship entity
and then in 1972, became Professional Welding Inc. Our company is a manufacturer of
ornamental wrought iron, aluminum, stainless steel, bronze, brass, and galvanized steel
railings, fences, swing and rolling gates, window guards, steel columns, boat frames, spiral
stair ladders, furniture and storm shutters. During the past 33 years, we have secured and
beautified Miami -Dade, Broward, Collier, Monroe and Palm Beach counties as well as
Santiago de los Caballeros (Dominican Republic) and Bimini (Bahamas) with ornamental
metal creations.
There are many companies in our line of work, however, very few firms have the
experience, ability, efficiency and professionalism to perform great tasks when time is of
the essence. In the words of our President and founder here is the credo by which we

Past Performance: In May of 2000, Professional Welding made a Performance Bond
contract with the City of Miami to fabricate and install proximally 25,000 lineal feet of
galvanized steel metal fence around eleven City Parks and eight Pools. This was an
emergency project for the City, because the Community Development Funds that fi-
nanced the enterprise were due by the end of the year. Six months later, we accom-
plished the task (letter of completion enclosed).

anodizing Aluminum
First of all, in the last 33 years Professional Welding Inc has never used this
type of application. We consider anodizing extremely hazardous, toxic and
against our ideas of keeping a safe environment It involves combinations of
sulfuric, phosphoric and chromic acids. Moreover; aluminum metal is highly
reactive to oxygen, but in the presence of air it spontaneously and rapidly
forms a tough resistant film of aluminum oxide, which protects the bulk of
the metal from corrosion. The oxide film can be enhanced, and its properties
changed, by anodization. Anodization is a process in which the aluminum is
made the anode of an electrolysis cell using an aqueous acid electrolyte for a
few minutes at low current densities. In other words, when the acid or acids
are placed in the aluminum it artificially grows its own oxide to an even
controlled thickness. This anodic thickness is not a surface coating, but it is
integral with the metal so a cut through it will not allow corrosion to creep
between the metal and oxide.
Advantages of Powder
Coating Aluminum.
Powder Coating is an advanced yet simple way of spray painting a very fine dry plastic
powder paint material. As the powder gently leaves the front of the spray gun, it is charged
with static electricity, which attracts the powder paint to the part (section of aluminum
fence) being coated.
In our case, the section of aluminum fence 8 feet long by 3 feet high (after being coated) is
placed in an oven and set to a temperature of 400 degrees for 10 minutes.
While in the oven, the powder paint melts and flows into a beautiful and durable finish.
Many highway and building jobs use power coating on high poles, guardrails, signs, posts
and fencing.
Advantages
1- Environmental friendly: over spray is reused and with no solvents in the powder paint
there is any pollution to the air we breathe.
2 -No primers no runs or drips as with wet paint.
3- Powder coating gives an even and consisting finish with extraordinary hardness and
durability.
4- Polyester powder coating prevents ultra violet rays from the sun from the chalk and dull
results that frequently occur with other applications after long periods of exposure.
5- Reduced costs: powder coating is less costly than anodizing and will produce better
results in our particular situation (fencing in the middle of Collins Avenue).
Disadvantages of power coating:
Power coating can be very forgiving of coating mistakes
before the item is placed in the oven. However, after the power cures in the stove -top,
mistakes can only be removed by sand blasting or burning it off. A cold stripper is
available but it is slow, extremely hazardous and could damage the metal itself.
Therefore, taking all these advantages against the drawback we've concluded that powder
coating electrostatic is the way Professional Welding Inc will paint the aluminum picket
fence if awarded the contract. Nevertheless, it is the most efficient and environment safe
way to proceed.

We are pleased to submit the following Bid: Fabrication and installation of TWO THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED THIRTY lineal
feet of aluminum picket fence for the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. The metal fence will be installed on the median of Collins
Avenue between ONE HUNDRED FIFTY EIGHT STREET AND ONE HUNDRED NINETY FOUR STREET. The
picket fence will have an altitude of THREE FEET with aluminum 2 "x 2" anchor posts, 2" x 1" top and bottom aluminum channels
and 1/4" x 3/4" aluminum pickets each decorated with a round top cap. The specific DETAIL SHOP DRAWING for this picket fence, is
being submitted along with this BID PROPOSAL but its content has been agreed on previous meetings between MR. HENRY
QUINTERO PRESIDENT OF PROFESSIONAL WELDING INC AND MR JAMES WHATTS DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
FOR THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA. The aluminum picket fence will be painted with electrostatic applications
of POWDER COATED BLACK PAINT. Professional Welding Inc agrees to ALL City of Sunny Isles Beach rules and regulations
concerning THIS BID NO. 01- 03- 02.FOR THE FABRICATION, INSTALLATION AND PAINTING OF A METAL FENCE.
