HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2016-2640 RESOLUTION NO. 2016- '2,040 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING AN IN-KIND DONATION TO CHABAD RUSSIAN CENTER OF SOUTH FLORIDA FOR USE OF HERITAGE PARK FOR A COMMUNITY EVENT ON DECEMBER 29, 2016; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION: PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Chabad Russian Center of South Florida, in collaboration with Chabad of Sunny Isles Beach and Chabad of Golden Beach wish to host their annual community event, Chanukah-Holiday Festival at Heritage Park on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. which is open to everyone; and WHEREAS, together, these not-for-profit organizations request the use of Heritage Park at no cost, including the use of the stage for a band, parking garage, restrooms and those support services, park clean-up and police services, with an estimated attendance of Three Hundred Fifty (350)people; and WHEREAS, the event will have carnival style rides provided by All Star Events who will name the City as additional insured and use them for all tent, table and chair rentals as well, and will build a menorah out of donated canned goods and light a real menorah; and WHEREAS, the cost for this donation would be expensed within the Parks and Police budgets and are estimated in an amount up to Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) in out-of- pocket expenses plus the donation of the Park use estimated in an amount up to Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) for the rental which is reflected as a lack of revenue and is not an out-of- pocket expense for the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Donation. The City Commission hereby approves the donation of in- kind support for the Chabad Russian Center of South Florida to utilize Heritage Park for their annual community event, Chanukah-Holiday Festival on Thursday, December 29, 2016, in an estimated amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00). Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. REASONS: Chabad Russian Center of South Florida, in collaboration with Chabad of Sunny Isles Beach and Chabad of Golden Beach, wish to host their annual community event, Chanukah-Holiday Festival at Heritage Park on December 29, 2016 from 5:00 -8:30 p.m. Together, these not-for-profit organizations request the use of the City park at no cost. FUNDING SOURCE: The costs for this donation would be expensed within the Parks and Police budgets and are estimated at up to $3,000 in out-of-pocket 57 expenses plus the donation of the park use estimated at up to $2,000 for the rental which is reflected as a lack of revenue and is not an out-of- pocket expense for the City.
