A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AN IN-KIND
DONATION TO THE SOCIAL CITIZENS OF SOUTHEAST
FLORIDA FOR USE OF THE COMMUNITY CENTER AT
PELICAN COMMUNITY PARK ON JANUARY 7, 2017;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting
various social services programs of interest to the residents and guests of Sunny Isles Beach; and
WHEREAS, the Social Citizens of Southeast Florida is a not-for-profit organization that
offers monthly social and recreational gatherings for City residents and guests alike; and
WHEREAS, the Social Citizens of Southeast Florida has requested use of the
Community Center at Pelican Community Park on Saturday, January 7, 2017 for a dinner dance
and are asking for a fee waiver for the rental as well as support services to facilitate set-up and
break-down, restroom management during the event, and clean-up of the facility post event, with
an estimated cost of up to One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) for the fee waiver,
rental fees, staffing and supplies; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is dedicated to supporting these activities
with an in-kind donation for the use of the Community Center at Pelican Community Park, as
well as City personnel to assist in this event on January 7, 2017.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Donation. The City Commission hereby approves the in-kind
donation to the Social Citizens of Southeast Florida for use of the Community Center at Pelican
Community Park on January 7, 2017 for a dinner dance.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

In-Kind Donation to Social Citizens of Southeast Florida
RE: for the Use of the Community Center at Pelican

RECOMMENDATION:
This item is presented for your consideration.
REASONS:
Social Citizens of Southeast Florida is a not-for-profit organization who
wishes to utilize the community center at Pelican Community Park for a
dinner dance on January 7, 2017. They are requesting a fee waiver for
the rental as well as some support services to facilitate set up and
break down, restroom management during the event, and clean up of
the facility post event. The estimated cost for the fee waiver would be
up to $1,500 inclusive of rental fees, staffing and supplies. There are
no Police services requested for this item as it is a ticketed, limited
indoor event.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Costs associated with the approval of this item would be expensed to
the general operating budget of the Cultural & Community Services
Department personnel and supplies.
