A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE DONATION
OF TWO (2) WILD LIME TREES AND EIGHT (8) PASSION
FLOWER VINES FROM KEITH AND FANG OLIVER FOR THE
BUTTERFLY GARDEN AT GATEWAY PARK; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is in the process of constructing Gateway
Park located on Sunny Isles Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, Keith and Fang Oliver wish to donate to the City two (2) Wild Lime trees
(non-fruiting), and four (4) red and four (4) purple Passion Flower Vines, for placement inside
the east fence of the Butterfly Garden behind the main stage at Gateway Park; and
WHEREAS, both of these plants are important host plants missing in Gateway Park, as
the Giant Swallowtails need Wild Lime host trees to visit and lay eggs, while the beautiful Julia
and Gulf Fritillery needs the Passion Flower host vine to lay eggs; and
WHEREAS, the City exercises its authority to accept donations as a non-profit
municipal corporation.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. Accepting the Donation. The City Commission hereby accepts the donation of
two (2) Wild Lime trees and eight (8) Passion Flower Vines from Keith and Fang Oliver to be
placed in the Butterfly Garden at Gateway Park.
Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.

Accepting a Donation from Keith and Fang Oliver for the
RE' Butterfly Garden at Gateway Park
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is presented for your consideration.
REASONS:
Keith and Fang Oliver wish to donate to the City of Sunny Isles Beach
two (2) Wild Lime Trees and four (4) red and four (4) purple Passion
Flower Vines, for placement inside the east fence of the Butterfly
Garden behind the main stage at Gateway Park.
These plants are important host plants which are missing in Gateway
