RESOLUTION NO. 2011-~O
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING AN ADDITIONAL TWENTY THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($20,000.00) TO UTILIZE THE SERVICES OF
COLIN BAENZIGER AND ASSOCIATES, INC. TO
CONDUCT A CITY MANAGER SEARCH; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY
TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, City Manager Rick Conner is retiring on January 31, 2011; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to conduct an executive search for this position; and
WHEREAS, the firm of Colin Baenziger and Associates has performed admirably in the
past for the City of Sunny Isles Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City would again like to utilize the services of Colin Baenziger and
Associates, Inc. more specifically to conduct an executive search for a City Manager, in an
amount not to exceed Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00); and
WHEREAS, Colin Baenziger and Associates, Inc. are willing and able to perform these
services for the City of Sunny Isles Beach; and
WHEREAS, the professional services to be performed by Colin Baenziger and
Associates, Inc. are exempt from the provisions of the City's competitive bidding requirements.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Additional Funds. The City Commission hereby authorizes an
additional Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) to utilize the services of Colin Baenziger and
Associates, Inc. to conduct a City Manager search.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

Additional Funds to Utilize the Services of Colin Baenziger and
Associates, Inc. to Conduct a City Manager Search
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission adopt the Resolution authorizing additional funds for a City
Manager Search.
REASONS:
The City Manager has given the City Commission notice that he is retiring effective
January 31, 2011. As such, the City Commission must hire a permanent City Manager in
the near future. The City Commission desires that an executive search be conducted.
Colin Baenziger and Associates has performed admirably in the past for the City, and this
Resolution authorizes an additional $20,000 to utilize their services once again for an
executive search for the position of City Manager.
