A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TWELVE (12) VEHICLES AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT AND LIGHTING FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THREE HUNDRED SIXTEEN THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED NINETY- SEVEN DOLLARS AND SEVENTY-SIX CENTS ($316,897.76), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department rotates a portion of the Police fleet annually to assure the safety and reliability of its equipment to its officer; and WHEREAS, the Police Department now needs to purchase the following twelve (12) vehicles under the Florida Sheriff's Association's Contract Bid # 10-18-09 07: eight (8) Ford Crown Victoria Police Vehicles, two (2) Ford Explorers Police Vehicles, one (1) Chevy Impala Police Administrative Vehicle, one (1) Dodge Charger Un-Marked Detective Vehicle, and all associated equipment and lighting, in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Sixteen Thousand Eight Hundred Ninety-Seven Dollars and Seventy-Six Cents ($316,897.76), attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, the equipment and lighting will be purchased from Strobes-r-us, the lowest and most responsive bidder, and will be procured through a piggy-back contract with the City of Ft. Lauderdale Contract # 185-1003 8; and WHEREAS, staff determined that the above charges were reasonable and customary for said purchase and recommends that the Commission approve the purchase; and WHEREAS, funding for eleven (11) of the above vehicles and associated equipment were budgeted in account # 10.539-5642, and one vehicle and associated equipment will be purchased with Department of Justice Forfeiture Funds # 60.521-5642. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. Authorizing the Purchase of Vehicles. The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase of twelve (12) vehicles and associated equipment and lighting, in an amount not to exceed Three Hundred Sixteen Thousand Eight Hundred Ninety-Seven Dollars and Seventy-Six Cents ($316,897.76), Attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
