Professional General Engineering Consultant
Notice is hereby given that the City of Sunny Isles Beach is seeking
Professional Engineering-Services to provide on-call services on an
as-needed basis. Sealed submittals will be received by the City Clerk
until 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at City of Sunny Isles
Beach, City Hall located at 18070 Coillns Avenue, First Floor Meet-
Ing Room, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, 33160. Submittals received

QUESTION:
Section 1.5 Scope of Services indicates: "The City is soliciting professional engineering
services for civil engineering related work..." and lists several engineering disciplines. Is it
expected for the civil engineering firm to submit a team that covers all those disciplines? Or.
should the consultant have all these disciplines in-house?
ANSWER:
No. The firm should submit for architectural type work only. It is not necessary for
the firm to be able to provide all of the listed services, but should provide a list of those,
or any other services they are qualified to provide.
QUESTION:
In the event that a design team should be proposed, can our firm submit as part of the team
for both RFQs?
ANSWER:
Yes, though we are not interested in the subs at this time, only the primes and the
services they propose to provide.

QUESTION:
We would like to submit under the disciplines of Geotechnical, Environmental,
Construction Inspection, and Construction Testing. Can we submit separately for just for
those specific disciplines, or do we have to be part of an engineering team which submits
on all of the disciplines?
ANSWER:
You can submit for specific areas, you will not be required to be able to provide all
the services listed. Please clearly list those areas you are submitting for.
QUESTION:
What, if any special qualifications, accreditations, validations, such as CMEC, FOOT,
Army Corp of Engineers, Miami-Dade County are required for this RFQ?
ANSWER:
Licensed Professional Engineers in the State of Florida.

QUESTION:
Our company is able to service 4 of the disciplines listed in your scope of services. Will
you be hiring several companies to cover each the services or will we need to team up
with a prime engineer to cover all the services under this contract? (For example, a
geotechnical engineer can submit only for the services they provide, a structural engineer
for their services, etc.) Also, we would like to be able to submit for only the services we
provide but, if we need to team with a prime that would be fine, I just need to know how
to go about submitting for this contract.
ANSWER:
You can submit for just those disciplines you feel qualified to provide, you do not
have to cover every one of them. That's why we intend to make multiple
selections. Please do however, clearly state those specific disciplines that you feel
qualified to provide.
QUESTION:
What would you consider structural inspections and what would you consider
construction inspections?
ANSWER:
Construction will review the physical placement, structural will cover the detailed
design.

Q: Is there going to be a pre-proposal meeting (mandatory or not)?
A: No.
Q: In Section 1.6/ Submittal requirements does item #, #7 and #8 count as part of the
fifteen (15) page maximum of the Technical Proposal?
A: No.
Q: Do the Prime / Subs need to be registered with the City?
A: No.
Q: How many consultants will be selected?
A: More than one.
Q: Does the five (5) years experience criteria extend to the sub-consultants?
A: There should be no need to include subcontractors; we are only interested in
what services your firm can provide.
Q: What is the length of the contract going to be?
A: To be determined, but expect one year with renewable options.
Q: Will there be any building design and construction services required in the scope
of services?
A: We are asking you to tell us what types of services you can provide in-
house. We are not asking you to gather subs for a one-stop-SllOp. There
will be several contracts awarded to cover all bases.
Q: Is the City looking for a consultant teams that can perform all of the tasks listed in
the Scope of Services or teams that specialize in speci fic tasks?
A: Specialized tasks.
Q: Will GIS services be part if the Scope of Services?
A: Yes.
Q: Will current consultants performing design services for the City be allowed to
also submit for this General Engineering Services Contract?
A: Yes.

information on our subconsultants or are you only asking for the Prime's
information?
A: There is no need for subs. We are only interested in the services each firm
can provide in-house. We are not looking for the total package from one
firm, there will be multiple awards.
Q: On Section 1.6, item #6 is requesting a list of all key personnel including
qualifications and experience, are you asking for a resume in addition to the
resumes contained in SF 255?
A: No.
