A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF TWO (2) JET SKI'S FROM BROW ARD
MOTORSPORTS, FOR USE BY THE OCEAN RESCUE
DIVISION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWENTY-FOUR
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($24,000.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Ocean Rescue Division budgeted for the replacement of two jet ski's
that have reached their useful life; and
WHEREAS, staff has deemed that Broward Motorsports is the lowest responsive
responsible vendor offering the best turn around time on repairs and service for two (2) jet ski's,
in an amount not to exceed Twenty-Four Thousand Dollars ($24,000.00); and
WHEREAS, staff determined that the above charges were reasonable and customary for
said purchase and recommends that the Commission approve the purchase.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorizing the Purchase of Jet Ski's. The City Commission hereby authorizes
the purchase of two (2) jet ski's, from Broward Motorsports in an amount not to exceed Twenty-
Four Thousand Dollars ($24,000.00).
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1 ih day of March 2011.

Purchase of Two Jet Ski's for the Ocean Rescue Operation
RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution to purchase
2 Jet Ski's for the Ocean Rescue Operation from Broward Motorsports in an amount not
to exceed $24,000.
REASONS:
The existing jet ski's for the Ocean Rescue Division are 2005 models which are
frequently out of service and expensive to repair. These 2 jet ski's will replace the
existing ones. These jet ski's are used for the daily operation of the Ocean Rescue
Division to patrol the waters and make rescues.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Broward Motorsports quote was $160 more than the lowest bidder but offered the best
turn around time on repairs and service. Based on our past experience with Broward
Motor Sports, this is a great asset to the operation.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in this fiscal year budget Account # 20.539.5642 Vehicles.
