Utilizing the experience accumulated I have successfully grown revenue and profits by building an organization that provides a quality service, effectively communicates with clients and controls costs through effective planning and execution of plants effective management teams required to achieve these goals. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Vila& Son Landscaping Company, Inc. Division Manager, Maintenance Services 2005-Present Responsible for writing and the establishment of establishment of a business plan for the management and development of a landscape maintenance division throughout the companies five branch and satellite location in Florida. Worked with General Managers at each branch location to implementing best operating practices to improve gross margins. Hired business developers in three branches to grow market share. During 2006 revenue grew from $5.4 Million to $8.5 Million and projections for $14.5 - $16 Million for 2007. Gross margin improved from 35% in 2005 to 42% in 2006. Mainten-X - Consultant 2004-2005 Acting in a consultant capacity I assisted this facilities maintenance company in establishing a network of independent landscape contractors throughout the state of Florida to provide landscape services to over three-hundred fifty locations throughout the state of Florida service. Phillips Environmental Services, Clearwater, Florida 2003 - 2004 (Consultant) As a consultant I worked closely with the owner of this landscape company to develop reports that provided job cost information to ensure revenue and profit goals are achieved through the efficient use of all company resources. · Implemented a master schedule for the "design build" division which increased production through more efficient use of personnel, equipment and sub-contractors · Developed and implemented a "site walk through" format to be utilized by account managers in the "lawn maintenance" division for improving communications and quality of service on properties. · Established an incentive program for account managers in the "lawn maintenance" division to increase revenue through the increased sales of landscape enhancements. · Developed landscape maintenance specifications for national and international companies with locations throughout the state of Florida and negotiated multi-year service agreements. · Developed and implemented safety and equipment training programs for all operations persol1l1el. Stiles Landscape Company, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 1998 - 2003 President Responsibilities included increasing sales and profit in the landscape division through the improved use of the company resources. · Analyzed the profitability of the "commercial landscape installation" and "lawn maintenance" divisions and determined the company could not compete successfully in commercial landscape installation in the Southeast Florida market as a result of the dilution in the market caused by an excessively large number of nursery growers also in the landscape installation business. This resulted in closing the commercial installation division and utilizing the resources to support the lawn maintenance division. JOSEPH E. JANSSEN Page Two Stiles Landscape Company, (continued) · Reduced the use of sub-contractors by establishing an "arbor" division bringing a previously outsourced $260,000 expense in-house, reducing costs and improving net profit. The arbor division grew to $1,300,000 revenue and 30% division net profit by selling services to local city and county governments, cemeteries and golf courses to name a few. · -Created a "Mulch Blowing" company to lower the cost of the installation of mulch and soil products on lawn maintenance accounts. This stand alone company grew from $400,000 revenue, one truck and three employees the first year to $1,250,000 revenue and 33% division net profit the third year. · Increased lawn maintenance division revenues from $2,500,000 to $10,000,000 while meeting projected net profit International Service Systems, Orlando, Florida 1994 - 1998 Branch Manager (1997-1998) Responsibilities included meeting sales and profit goals within the central Florida branch. · Improved quality of service through the implementation of safety, horticultural and equipment training programs for all operations persol1l1el. · As a result referrals from improved client relationships revenue was increased through the sale of additional resort (site) jobs. · Renewed contracts with large key accounts increasing contract terms of three years to five years with built in annual increases. Operations Manager (1994-1997) Responsibilities included the management of persol1l1el, equipment and resources to provide the landscape maintenance on multiple world class destination resorts (Grand Cypress Resort, Hyatt Grand Cypress, Vistana Resort and Westgate Resort). In addition I was the primary contact with the clients and increased revenue through relationships that were built.
