FOR HERIT AGE PARK, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($35,000.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A", A SOLE SOURCE VENDOR; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide on site amenities for Heritage Park including concrete round tables with benches, concrete straight bench, metal looped bike rack-in ground mount, concrete smokeless ash urn, concrete round container with cast grid wall including aluminum rain hood and liner, which would enhance the experience of patrons who enjoy the Park; and WHEREAS, Wausau Tile, Inc. manufactures concrete tables with checkerboard insets, concrete benches with sphere legs, classical waste containers, waste containers with selected inset design, and a smokeless ash urn that meets the City's specifications; and WHEREAS, Wausau Tile, Inc., a sole source provider, submitted a proposal to the City to provide concrete site amenities for Heritage Park, in an amount not to exceed Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00) including delivery, attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and WHEREAS, purchases from sole source vendors are exempt from the bidding requirements of the City's procurement ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Purchase. The City Commission hereby approves the purchase of concrete site amenities from Wausau Tile, Inc. for Heritage Park, in an amount not to ~xceed Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00) including delivery, as outlined in Exhibit "A", attached hereto. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. REASONS: As Heritage Park nears completion, the City desires to direct purchase the site furnishings to realize a cost savings and expedite the process. Wausau Tile manufactures site furnishings that are consistent with the site design and style. These site furnishings are catalog items rather than the custom products specified by the architect. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The original design provided for concrete site furnishings for their aesthetics as well as their durability. The City researched the concrete furnishing products available and recommends this product from Wausau Tile which uses recycled glass to give the concrete the 'high end' look that is consistent with the City's image. The use of recycled glass makes this product a "green", environmentally freindly product. As such, Wausau Tile is the sole source for this style of site furnishings as described in the attached letter.
