Our project portfolio includes new construction, site related work, build-outs and facilities for Miami-Dade County public Schools, which have included numerous playgrounds and parks. Over the past five years our focus has been on CM @ Risk and Management, while having worked on a De- sign-Build project for the School District. In addition to our project experience our proposed project manager, Lazaro Villar brings with him over 12 years of construction experience and an extensive Design-Build background. Kalex has partnered with Team Pain Skate Parks and Silva Architects along with Curtis- Rogers Landscape Architects for this project in order to provide the highest level of experi- ence not only at the construction level but also the design level. Team Pain Skate Parks is a Florida based skate park company with over 20-years of experience working world-wide in creating skate parks and skate structures for professional skateboarders, BMX riders, communities, municipalities and government agencies. The company's modern design phi- losophies and unsurpassed craftsmanship is the direct result of the skateboarding experience each member encompasses. Individual dedication to the sport of skateboarding provides our Design-Build team with the uniquely, talented personnel necessary in creating high quality skate parks. Silva Architects and Curtis-Rogers bring a combined 40-years of experience in public facilities to our team. Our design team will assist in not only providing the highest quality of design elements for skating but also to incorporate architectural and landscape features that will highlight the skate de- sign and provide the City of Sunny Isles with a park that meets both skate requirements and every- day use. Silva Architects has also been a leader in designing with sustainable practices in mind and is credited with the design of the first "Green School" for MDCPS. Silva also received a Gold Certifi- cation fro their offices in the City of Coral Gables. Although not a requirement our Design-Build team is committed to providing a park that can incorpo- rate sustainable practices and design elements while minimizing the cost on the overall project costs. Our team envisions incorporating sustainable components into the facility that will not only enhance the look of the park but also lead by example in creating a park that incorporates as many sustainable materials as possi- ble while maintaining the integrity of the city's budget. A separate entrance will be developed from the east side of the park off of Collins Avenue that will allow separation from the main park area. This entrance will also incor- porate a small kiosk area where the city can monitor the use of the park as well as crate an entrance to the skating experience. Our design will also incorporate re-designing the SE corner of the park to allow both sides to work as one park. The incorporation of street art, which is manufactured by Team Pain will give the corner a sense of color and creativity that will enhance the look of the park. Sustainable Design: Selected use of graphics, materials such as wood, steel, corrugated metal and acid stained concrete allow for sustainability and an aesthetically exciting park and kiosk structure. By working hand in hand with the skate park designer, we hope to bring the sense of movement and excitement generated by the flowing curves of the skate park into the overall landscape and design of the small structure/s, Our use of existing fill that may be generated to create some of the changes in elevations will also allow us to minimize the disturbance of existing areas and minimize transportation costs. We will maintain a high level of protection for the environmentally sensitive areas just south of the pro- posed skate park area by installing silt fencing and maintain all Department of Environmental Protec- tion regulations. Our plan will incorporate a series of water fountains and lights that are directed down and work with cut-off sensors in order to minimize to effects of light pollution, Landscaping will incorporate fully native plants through color and type, while maximizing its xeriphic qualities, Emphasis of canopy trees for shade supplemented by palms to highlight circulation patterns and spatial elements We will maximize the use of local recycled materials and absorbing elements added to the planting soil for additional water retention and water conservation, Warranty: Team Pain offers a one year warranty against defects in workmanship provided by Team Pain and is related to the actual skating surfaces and accessories. The surface of the skate park will maintain its integrity and Team Pain will warranty the repair of any shifting or heaving of the concrete, the metal edges (coping) are to remain secure and in-tact, as well as, any welding work performed. In addition to Team Pain's warranty Kalex Construction and all sub-contractors used will offer a one year war- ranty on all construction related work performed.
