A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE PURCHASE
OF WALL PLAQUES FOR HERITAGE PARK FROM GATEWAY
MONUMENT COMPANY, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
SEVENTEEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS AND
TWENTY-FIVE CENTS ($17,300.25), ATTACHED HERETO AS
EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide wall plaques in the City's Heritage Park
depicting the names of the residents of Sunny Isles Beach who have served on the City
Commission and in the United States Armed Forces throughout it's history; and
WHEREAS, staff obtained three proposals for wall plaques and recommended the
proposal from Gateway Monument Company, in the amount of Seventeen Thousand Three
Hundred Dollars and Twenty-Five Cents ($17,300.25) to provide said services, attached hereto
as Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Ratifying the Purchase. The City Commission hereby ratifies the purchase of wall
plaques from Gateway Monument Company for Heritage Park, in an amount not to exceed
Seventeen Thousand Three Hundred Dollars and Twenty-Five Cents ($17,300.25) including
delivery, as outlined in Exhibit "A", attached hereto.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of June 2011.

Purchase of Commemorative Wall Plaques for Heritage Park
RECOMMENDA TION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution to purchase
and install Commemorative Wall Plaques for Heritage Park from Gateway Monument
Company in an amount not to exceed Seventeen Thousand, Three Hundred Dollars and
Twenty Five Cents ($17,300.25).
REASONS:
One of the many features of Heritage Park is the Memorial Wall which will name the
residents of Sunny Isles Beach who have served on the City Commission and in the
United States Armed Forces throughout it's history. The plaques that are attached for
approval are for the initial first two black granite plaques that will have the names etched
in them at time of installation as well as 14 blank plaques to be stored for future additions
so that they are all uniformly cut. There are a total of 16 black granite plaques covered in
this purchase.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The blank plaques memorializing the Elected Officials will be added as elections dictate.
The blank plaques for the Veterans' will be added annually at the City's Veteran's Day
Celebration every November.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this item is available and budgeted in the Capital Improvement Projects
budget for Heritage Park in Account 35.600.5663.
