A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
A MERIT BONUS FOR ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
JORGE VERA UPON THE COMPLETION OF HIS
SERVICE AS ACTING CITY MANAGER; PROVIDING
THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on January 20, 2011 via Resolution No. 2011-1659, the City Commission
appointed Jorge Vera as Acting City Manager effective February 1,2011 until a permanent City
Manager was appointed; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission agreed to provide a merit bonus to Assistant City
Manager Jorge Vera upon the completion of his service as Acting City Manager; and
WHEREAS, on April 21, 2011 via Resolution No. 2011-1713, the City Commission
confirmed the Mayor's nomination and approved an Agreement with Alan J. Cohen as the new
City Manager/Chief Administrative Officer of the City, effective June 1, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission hereby desires to provide a merit bonus in the amount
of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) to Assistant City Manager Jorge Vera upon the
completion of his service as Acting City Manager.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Merit Bonus. The City Commission hereby approves a merit bonus
in the amount ofTen Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) to Assistant City Manager Jorge Vera upon
the completion of his service as Acting City Manager.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of June 2011.

Merit Bonus for Assistant City Manager Jorge Vera upon the Completion
of his Service as Acting City Manager
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution approving a merit bonus for
Assistant City Manager Jorge Vera.
REASONS:
On January 20, 2011 the City Commission appointed Jorge Vera as Acting City Manager
effective February 1, 2011 until a permanent City Manager was appointed. The
Commission agreed to provide a merit bonus to him upon completion of his service as
Acting City Manager. On April 21, 2011 the City Commission appointed Alan J. Cohen
as the new City Manager effective June 1, 2011. As such, I would like to propose that a
$10,000 merit bonus be provided to Assistant City Manager Jorge Vera upon the
successful completion of his services as Acting City Manager, with thanks.
