A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE, AND EXPEND GRANT
FUNDS FROM THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY FEDERAL DRUG
CONTROL & SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
(BYRNE/JAG GRANT FY 2011/2012), IN THE AMOUNT OF
FOUR THOUSAND EIGHTY-TWO DOLLARS ($4,082.00);
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID
AGREEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County has been awarded federal funds from the Drug Control
and Systems Improvement Formula Grant Program under Public Law 100-690, the Federal Anti-
Drug Abuse Act of 1988; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Drug Control and System Improvement Program (Byrne/JAG
Grant) is administered through the Miami-Dade County Department of Human Services; and
WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has been given preliminary approval
for a portion of said grant funds; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to purchase two (2) Rapid Mobile ID Systems; and
WHEREAS, the preliminarily approved-grant funding is in a total amount of Four Thousand
Eighty- Two Dollars ($4,082.00) (no cash match is required); and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to authorize staff to apply for, receive, and expend said grant
funding for the purposes mentioned above, in the terms and conditions as outlined in the Byrne Grant
application, attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization of the Mayor. The Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive,
and expend grant funds from the Miami-Dade County Federal Drug Control & System Improvement
Program (Byrne/JAG Grant FY 2011/2012), in the amount of Four Thousand Eighty-Two Dollars
($4,082.00).
Section 2. Further Authorization of Mayor. The Mayor is hereby further authorized to execute
said Agreement.
Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is authorized to do all things
necessary to effectuate this Resolution.

Section 4.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

to run on COTS equipment. Most customers have been
trained and can self install the solution on an existing PC
and print responses on an exisitng printer. Cross Match
also sells installation when needed. Cross Match can

All hardware line items are priced FOB destination and include 24 month support per the ITN
requirements. Per section 6.3.1.0 CMT Rapid 10 software will work with an existing proxy server.

RE:
Authorization to Apply For, Receive and Expend Grant Money from
the Miami-Dade County, Federal Drug Control and System
Improvement Program (Byrne /JAG Grant FY2012) for the
purchase of two (2) Rapid Mobile ID Systems.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve a Resolution authorizing
the Mayor to apply for, receive, and expend monies from the Miami-Dade County
Federal Drug Control and System Improvement Program (Byrne/JAG Grant) in
the amount of $4,082
REASONS:
The City of Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has been given preliminary
approval of grant funds totaling $4,082.00 in order to purchase (2) Rapid Mobile
ID Systems.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
By utilizing grant funds it would allow us to purchase two (2) Rapid Mobile Id
systems. These systems would allow officers to capture the subject's fingerprints
directly from the streets assuring their true identity. The system will identify
criminal records and arrest warrant information based on the fingerprints.
