A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF LAPTOP COMPUTERS, DESKTOP
WORKST A TIONS AND ASSOCIATED ACCESSORIES FROM
DELL FOR THE CITY-WIDE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM,
UNDER STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACT #250-040-08-1, IN A
TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY-FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($35,000.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS
EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City is in need of purchasing computers to replace agmg, slow
problematic computers that have been placed in service since February 2004; and
WHEREAS, the Information Technology Department (IT) researched and established a
cost effective replacement cycle of three (3) to four (4) years for all City computers to assure
optimal performance; and
WHEREAS, IT wishes to purchase new computer servers, workstations, and other
related hardware and software, in order to replace twenty-two (22) desktop computers and six (6)
Dell Laptop Computers; and
WHEREAS, Staff has requested a quote from Dell, a leader in the computer industry, for
said computer servers, workstations, and other related hardware and software; and
WHEREAS, Dell has provided a quote under the State of Florida Contract #250-040-08-
1 for the purchase of the computer servers, workstations, and other related hardware and
software, in a total amount not to exceed Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00), attached
hereto as Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to purchase said computer servers,
workstations, and other related hardware and software from Dell.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization of Purchase. The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase
of computer servers, workstations, and other related hardware and software from Dell for the
City- Wide Replacement Program, under State of Florida Contract #250-040-08-1, in a total
amount not to exceed Thirty-Five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.

Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21 st day of July 2011.

Approval to Purchase Twenty-Two (22) Dell Desktop Workstations and
Six (6) Laptops for the City-wide replacement program.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff is recommending the Commission approve the attached resolution authorizing the
purchase of twenty-two (22) Dell Desktop Workstations and six (6) Dell Laptops and
associated accessories to include hardware warranties at a cost not to exceed $35,000.
REASONS:
Early in the fiscal year, the City purchased 10 Dell computers for replacement for under
$10,000. The City is in need to purchase more computers to replace aging, slow,
problematic computers that have been placed in service since February 2004. The
additional $25,000 will afford the City to replace 28 more workstations, which will
replace all computers placed in service in 2004, 2005, and 2006 and several that were
placed in service in 2007. The 1nformation Technology department is in the process of
establishing an effective replacement cycle of 3-4 years for all city computers to assure
optimal performance.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The computers with be purchased through Dell, Inc. under the State Contract #250-040-
08-1.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding is available in account number 10-559-5643.
