HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2011-1762 RESOLUTION NO. 2011- J1 ~ ~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A CONTRIBUTION IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000.00) TO SPONSOR AN EVENT ON SEPTEMBER 21, 2011 TO OFFICIALLY DEDICATE THE COMMUNITY SCHOOL AS THE NORMAN S. EDELCUP / SUNNY ISLES BEACH K-8; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting in various programs of interest and benefit to its residents and visitors; and WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach K-8 Community School was officially renamed in honor of Sunny Isles Beach Mayor Norman S. Edelcup; and WHEREAS, the School will host a Renaming Ceremony on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 to officially dedicate the School as the Norman S. Edelcup / Sunny Isles Beach K-8; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to sponsor the Event on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 to officially dedicate the School, by contributing up to One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Contribution. The City Commission hereby approves a contribution of up to One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) to host an Event on Wednesday, September 21,2011 to officially dedicate the School as the Norman S. Edelcup / Sunny Isles Beach K-8. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. REASONS: The Sunny Isles Beach K-8 Community School was officially renamed in honor of Sunny Isles Beach Mayor Norman S. Edelcup. The school will host a Renaming Ceremony on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 to officially dedicate the school as the Norman S. Edelcup 1 Sunny Isles Beach K-8. The City wishes to sponsor this event in the amount of $1 ,000.00 through the City Commission Donation budget.
