A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING PAYMENT TO
ATLANTIC BROADBAND FOR UNDERGROUNDING CABLE
TELEVISION LINES AT 19201 COLLINS AVENUE, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ELEVEN THOUSAND THREE
HUNDRED SIXTY-SEVEN DOLLARS ($11,367.00);
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Atlantic Broadband currently holds a franchise to provide cable television
services in the City of Sunny Isles Beach, pursuant to Resolution No. 2004-645 adopted by the City
Commission on February 25, 2004; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission expressed a desire to underground the overhead utility
lines throughout the City, and is now in the process of converting the entire distribution overhead
utility lines to underground in the City; and
WHEREAS, on February 19,2009, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2009-1392
approving payment to Atlantic Broadband to provide undergrounding of the cable television lines
along 1 nnd Street; and
WHEREAS, on December 19,2009, the City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2009-
1497 approving payment to Atlantic Broadband to provide undergrounding of the cable television
lines on Atlantic Isles; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to move this project along in an expeditious manner and finish the
undergrounding of all utilities, staff negotiated with Atlantic Broadband to provide undergrounding
of the cable television lines at 19201 Collins Avenue; and
WHEREAS, Atlantic Broadband submitted an invoice for payment, in the amount of Eleven
Thousand Three Hundred Sixty-Seven Dollars ($11,367.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Payment. The City Commission hereby approves payment to Atlantic
Broadband, in the amount not to exceed Eleven Thousand Three Hundred Sixty-Seven Dollars
($11,367.00), for undergrounding cable television lines at 19201 Collins Avenue.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.

Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

Engineering and Construction will not begin until this signed agreement with advanced payment is

payment, to the address listed below. In order to insure that your payment is processed correctly and the
work is scheduled in a timely manner, it is important that you list the project name listed above on your

Authorizing a payment to Atlantic Broadband for work related to the
undergrounding of their lines in front of 19201 Collins Avenue.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the payment of $11 ,367.00 to Atlantic Broadband.
REASONS:
There are 5 concrete FPL poles in front of 19201 Collins Avenue. FPL removed their
lines from these poles, but cannot remove the poles themselves until the Atlantic
Broadband lines are also removed. Once the lines are removed and undergrounded, FPL
will remove the 5 poles and an additional empty 6th pole that is close by.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is part of the City's comprehensive under grounding efforts. This project will result
in a more reliable power source for the community that is not threatened by wind storms.
It will also result in an improved aesthetic for the community.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding is available in account number 20-600-5656.
