RESOLUTION NO. 2012- 1861-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF TWO (2) VEHICLES AND ASSOCIATED
EQUIPMENT FROM BARTOW CHEVROLET, FOR USE BY THE
CODE ENFORCEMENT DIVISION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED THIRTY-TWO THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED
EIGHTY DOLLARS ($32,780.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS
EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Code Enforcement Division budgeted for the replacement of two aged
vehicles that have reached their useful life; and
WHEREAS, staff has deemed that Bartow Chevrolet is the lowest and most responsive
bidder for two (2) 2012 Chevrolet Colorado 4WD vehicles and associated equipment under the
Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA) Contract #33, in an amount not to exceed Thirty-Two
Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty Dollars ($32,780.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, staff determined that the above charges were reasonable and customary for
said purchase and recommends that the Commission approve the purchase.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorizing the Purchase of Vehicles. The City Commission hereby authorizes
the purchase of two (2) vehicles and associated equipment, from Bartow Chevrolet in an amount
not to exceed Thirty-Two Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty Dollars ($32,780.00), Attached
hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of February 2012.

Purchase of two (2) vehicles for use by the Code Compliance Division
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends an approval to purchase two (2) vehicles from Bartow Chevrolet in an
amount not to exceed $32,780.00.
REASONS:
Some of the vehicles assigned to the Code Compliance Division are ageing and
becoming more expensive for the City to maintain as well as unsafe for the employees to
drive. As a result, the City's capital outlay plan included replacement vehicles for the unit
in order to reduce running costs of vehicles in poor condition and ensure driver safety.
The vehicles identified for replacement will be surplused and sold at auction to recoup
any remaining residual value.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The City will piggy back from the Florida Sheriffs Office Association bid to purchase
the vehicle. The bid award is attached.
