Home My WebLink AboutReso 2012-1886 RESOLUTION NO. 2012- ~b A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A LETTER OF AGREEMENT WITH THE JOHN SCOTT DAILEY FLORIDA INSTITUTE OF GOVERNMENT AT FAU TO PROVIDE THE SUPERVISOR'S APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ELEVEN THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($11,250.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach continues to offer training programs to its employees; and WHEREAS, the City is now in need of assistance in providing supervisor training courses to City employees; and WHEREAS, the John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government at Florida Atlantic University offers The Supervisor's Apprenticeship: Skills for Rising Leaders course which is a competency based program offered to potential and current supervisors; and WHEREAS, the John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government submitted a proposal to the City in an amount not to exceed Eleven Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($11,250.00) for thirty (30) participants, and are willing and able to perform these services for the City of Sunny Isles Beach; and WHEREAS, the professional services to be performed by the John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government are exempt from the provisions of the City's competitive bidding . requirements. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. Authorization of Citv Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a Letter of Agreement with John Scott Dailey Florida Institute of Government at FAU to provide The Supervisor's Apprenticeship Training to City employees, in an amount not to exceed Eleven Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($ 11,250.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". Section 2. Authorization of Citv Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Typically. these lead workers and back up leaders participate in supervisory development prematurely because it is the only program available. By attending this program. the novice leader will be prepared for his or her current position and be well positioned for a move into a supervisory function.
