A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF SIX (6) VEHICLES AND ASSOCIATED
EQUIPMENT FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED TWENTY-ONE
THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED NINE DOLLARS AND SEVENTY-
FIVE CENTS ($221,609.75), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT
"A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL
THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department rotates a portion of the Police
fleet annually to assure the safety and reliability of its equipment to its officers; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department now needs to purchase the following six (6) vehicles
from Maroone Chrysler Dodge of Pembroke Pines (3 Dodge Chargers and 2 Dodge Durangos)
and from Bartow Chevrolet (I Chevy Impala) under the Florida Sheriffs Association's Contract
Bid # 11-19-0907, and all associated equipment, in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred
Twenty-One Thousand Six Hundred Nine Dollars and Seventy-Five Cents ($221,609.75),
attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and
WHEREAS, the associated equipment will be purchased from various vendors as a result
of a competitive bid process and/or a piggyback contract; and
WHEREAS, staff determined that the above charges were reasonable and customary for
said purchase and recommends that the Commission approve the purchase; and
WHEREAS, funding for six (6) of the above vehicles and associated equipment will be
purchased with funds from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Forfeiture Funds as non
budgeted items and part of the City Manager's Reorganizational Plan, totaling $221,609.75.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section I. Authorizing the Purchase of Vehicles. The City Commission hereby authorizes
the purchase of six (6) vehicles and associatcd equipment, in an amount not to exceed Two
Hundred Twenty-One Thousand Six Hundred Nine Dollars and Seventy-Five Cents
($221,609.75), Attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. Authorization of Citv Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3.
Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

Approval to Purchase Six (6) Police Vehicles and associated
equipment not to exceed $221,609.75
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution
authorizing the City Manager to purchase six (6) Police Vehicles and associated
equipment not to exceed $221,609.75
REASONS:
With the addition of six new police officer positions as part of the City Managers
reorganizational plan, there is a need for six additional police vehicles. These six
(6) vehicles will be purchased from Maroone Chrysler Dodge of Pembroke Pines
(3- Dodge Chargers and 2 Dodge Durangos) and from Bartow Chevrolet (1 -
Chevy Impala). These vehicles will be purchased off the Florida Sheriffs
Association, Florida Association of Counties & Florida Fire Chiefs' Association's
Contract Bid # 11-19-0907 The associated equipment will be purchased from
various vendors as a result of a competitive bid process.
FUNDING SOURCE:
These vehicles will be purchased with funds from the U.S. Department of Justice
(DOJ) Forfeiture Funds as non budgeted items and part of the City Managers
Reorganizational Plan.
