A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
CONTRIBUTION OF UP TO TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS
($10,000.00) TO SPONSOR THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY
DRAGON BOAT RACE ON OCTOBER 6, 2012 AT BELLA
VISTA BAY PARK; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting
in various programs of interest and benefit to its residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the United Chinese Association of Florida are hosting the 10th Anniversary
Dragon Boat Race at Haulover Park; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has been selected as the host site for this
international event attracting guests and dignitaries who stay in Sunny Isles Beach hotels and
support the local economy; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to sponsor the Event on Saturday, October 6,
2012 at Bella Vista Bay Park, by contributing up to Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) plus
minimal in -kind services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Contribution. The City Commission hereby approves a contribution
of up to Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) plus in -kind services to host the 10th Anniversary
Dragon Boat Race on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Bella Vista Bay Park.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21" day of June 2012.

RE: Donation to Sponsor the 10th Annual Dragon Boat Race
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission consider the attached resolution to donate
\ up to Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) to sponsor the 10th Annual Dragon Boat Race.
REASONS:
The United Chinese Association of Florida is hosting the 10th Anniversary Dragon Boat
Race at Haulover Park. Sunny Isles Beach has been selected as the host site, attracting
guests and dignitaries who stay in Sunny Isles Beach hotels and supports the local
economy. The City is supportive of multicultural activities and wishes to sponsor the
Event on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Bella Vista Bay Park.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding is available in the City Commission's donation account number 10 -511 -5490.
After this committment, the remaining balance will be $1,650 in the donation account.
