A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE APPROVAL TO
ACCEPT A DONATION OF THIRTY-NINE (39) TREES INCLUDING
INSTALLATION FROM LPLA PARTNERS, LP, FOR PLACEMENT
IN INTRACOASTAL PARKS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE
THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is in the process of constructing the
Intracoastal Parks located at 16000 and 16050 Collins Avenue; and
WHEREAS. LPLA Partners, LP wishes to donate to the City thirty-nine (39) trees
including the installation of the trees valued at Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00), for
placement in the Intracoastal Parks; and
WHEREAS, the City exercises its authority to accept donations as a non-profit
municipal corporation.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. Ratifying the Approval of Accepting the Donation. The City Commission hereby
ratifies the approval of accepting the donation of thirty-nine trees (39) including installation from
LPLA Partners, LP, for placement in the Intracoastal Parks.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon
adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of October 2012.

Dear City Commission:
This letter is to indicate that I am donating 39 Calophyllum Brasiliense- Brazilian Beauty Leaf
trees to the City of Sunny Isles Beach on behalf of LPLA Partners, LP.As part of our donation,we
will also include the installation of these trees at the City's Intracoastal Park.
This donation will serve as further beautification of the area and add to the existing appeal of the
City of Sunny Isles Beach.

MEMORANDUM

RE: Ratification of the Acceptance of a Donation of Trees from LPLA
Partners, LP to Use in City Parks with an estimated value of$15,000.00
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution to accept a
donation of 39 trees from LPLA Partners. LP with an estimated value of $15,000.00
(Fifteen Thousand Dollars).
REASONS:
LPLA Partners, LP, the developer of Mansions at Acqualina, is transforming their site
from a sales center to a construction site. As a sales office, the site is lushly landscaped
with trees and shrubs that will be removed as the project transitions to the next phase.
Rather than destroy the plant material, LPLA Partners, LP offered to relocate 39
Calophyllum Brasiliense - Brazilian Beauty Leaf Trees to a City owned property.
The Brazilian Beauty Leaf is a good tree to use in areas where you want to provide a
natural barrier for screening. Intracoastal Park was deemed a good place to plant these
trees. LPLA Partners, LP provided the relocation of these 39 trees at no charge to the
City.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The trees are valued at $225.00 each plus relocation expense.
FUNDING SOURCE:
There is no expense related to this item.
