A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF
THREE (3) 2015 HARLEY DAVIDSON POLICE ROAD KING
MOTORCYCLES FROM CHESTER'S HARLEY-DAVIDSON OF
FT. LAUDERDALE, AND ASSOCIATED EMERGENCY
LIGHTING AND EQUIPMENT FROM STROBES-R-US, INC., IN
A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SIXTY-EIGHT
THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED NINETY-SIX DOLLARS AND
TWENTY-EIGHT CENTS ($68,696.28), ATTACHED HERETO AS
EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to purchase three (3) Police
motorcycles and accessories to meet the motorcycle needs of the Police Department in the
performance of police-related or law enforcement duties; and
WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department solicited bids from three (3)
vendors for the purchase of three (3) 2015 Harley Davidson Police Road King Motorcycles, and
Chester's Harley Davidson of Ft. Lauderdale was the most responsive, responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to purchase three (3) 2015 Harley Davidson Police Road
King Motorcycles from Chester's Harley Davidson of Ft. Lauderdale, in an amount not to exceed
Fifty-Six Thousand Eight Hundred Thirteen Dollars and Eighty-Eight Cents ($56,813.88), and
all emergency lighting and equipment will be purchased and installed by Strobes-R-Us, Inc., in
an amount not to exceed Eleven Thousand Eight Hundred Eighty-Two Dollars and Forty Cents
($11,882.40), in the total amount not to exceed Sixty-Eight Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-Six
Dollars and Twenty-Eight Cents ($68,696.28), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Purchase. The City Commission hereby approves the purchase of
three (3) 2015 Harley Davidson Police Road King Motorcycles from Chester's Harley-Davidson,
and the purchase and installation of all emergency lighting and equipment by Strobes-R-Us, Inc.
in a total amount not to exceed Sixty-Eight Thousand Six Hundred Ninety-Six Dollars and
Twenty-Eight Cents ($68,696.28), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.

Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department is looking to purchase 3 Harley Davidson FLHP police motorcycles and also lease
3 Harley Davidson FLHP police motorcycles for a 3 year period. Below is the listed criteria that we are looking for it to
include. We would need the motorcycles to be delivered to us in November 2014.

Approval to Purchase Three (3) 2015 Harley Davidson
RE: Police Road King Motorcycles and associated
emergency lighting and equipment at a cost not to
exceed $68,696.28.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager
to purchase Three (3) 2015 Harley Davidson Police Road King Motorcycles and associated emergency
lighting and equipment at a cost not to exceed $68,696.28.
REASONS:
The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department solicited bids from three (3) vendors for the purchase of three
(3), 2015 Harley Davidson Police Motorcycles. Chester's Harley Davidson of Ft. Lauderdale was the
most responsive, responsible bidder
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department is nearing the end of our current two (2) year lease of our
Police Motorcycles. After much research, staff believes that it would be more cost effective to purchase
our police motorcycles, extending the rotation to a three year cycle while still maintaining a high resale
value due to the limited mileage and condition of the motorcycles. During this transition cycle, we
would purchase three (3) Motorcycles while continuing to lease three (3).
All emergency lighting and equipment will be purchased and installed by Strobes-R-Us, Inc.
